St John's RPI

Wasn't that considered a neutral court game? Not saying we shouldn't have beaten them, but in regards to RPI it doesn't look as bad as you would think.

It's because people on this board think that losing to a middle of the road Big Ten Team like Penn State is the equivalent of losing to South by Southeast Alaska State which it is not.

I know I am going to get crushed for this but St John's RPI is looking good at 45 (I know it is way too early for this), so a Syracuse win can go a real long way to making the NCAA tourney this year (obviously):

Penn St. who is #68 beat us in our back yard. We don't have a quality win yet. Go figure how they figure.

They also lost to Bucknell, who we beat by 10.

If we played ten times, SJU would win 8.

Stop acting like the game being in Brooklyn helped us at all. Some of the people that went to the gane said it was probably half st johns fans and half PSU so saying the game was in our backyard means nothing.

Under Lavin, they are a different team at the Garden. I feel like we can beat anyone there. Barclays is no advantage to us.

I guess it depends on which site you look at.

They have our RPI at 60, SOS 49.

Bucknell is at 52, SOS 45.

After Sunday, both our RPI and SOS will jump. With a win...fogetta bout it!

A win against Syracuse could be a differentiator if the Big East is close and bids are close.

Moved up to 36. A win over Syracuse should make us top twenty.

I don't know if Lavin plans it that way, but our SOS is always way stronger than it should be based on who we play. That is due to Coach never shying away from road games early and us always playing in a ton of neutral court games.

It must be by design. Lavin always says he likes his teams to get incrementally better, not peak too early and be strong tourney time. He has a history of having teams that do that. It is why I think he schedules us the way it ends up. I'm guessing he knows the formula, because it happens like this on a regular basis.
