Warning to anyone ( non students ) wanting to stop by and check it out let me tell you don't waste your time.

I'm sure it's great for students but the lady who answered the buzzer today ( it's not that big ) wouldn't even open the door for us. We told her I a graduate of SJU in Queens but she still wouldn't even buzz us in.

Waste of almost an hour taking subways to get us there. At least I got a picture in front of the place.

Did you go up to the door on the camel?

Nah. Paris is too congested for me riding the camels :) Next time though I'm definitely going to rent a Vespa. Everyone is driving them over here and I mean everyone. Too bad I don't smoke cigarettes. I could get used to the life over here other than the horrible exchange rate

Can anyone explain why St.John's needs a Paris campus?

St.John's hasn't exactly distinguished itself with its acquisition of The College of Insurance.

To refresh everyone's memory, The College of Insurance was a well respected, stand alone - accredited educational institution started by insurance industry leaders in 1901. The College of Insurance offered bachelors and masters degrees in insurance and actuarial science. St.John's acquired The College of Insurance in 2001 and merged it into the Tobin Business School. At the time of the merger many in our St.John's family believed that The College of Insurance would allow St.john's to become a distinguished leader in the Insurance education field. Fast forward 10 years and St. John's undergrad business program still lacks any rating in the US News or Bloomberg / Business Week undergrad rankings or even the USNews specialized rankings for undergrad insurance education.

Given the distinguished and unique curriculum the The College of Insurance offered it was reasonable to expect that its addition would enhance St.John's academic reputation.

Can anyone explain why St.John's needs a Paris campus?

Because the Big East didn't admit Penn State and Chris Mullin hasn't given millions to the school.

Honestly I wish I had the balls to go away for a semester or 2 so I think our campuses have something to offer.

That being said this ( today ) was the worst experience of my travel life and I've done a lot in the last 6 years.

All I wanted was a St Johns Paris tee shirt and all I got was a biatch with a major league attitude and when my girlfriend spoke french to her she got nastier.

At least tonight at Moulin Rouge we got comped a bottle of champagne so to me that equaled things out today

I had the opposite experience last year when I visited the Rome campus. People could not be nicer. Let me and my family explore the entire building and offered us soft drinks.

When in Rome ......... Stay in Rome.......

When in Paris go anywhere away from our campus.I can't say enough what a bad experience it was and I'm writing the school next week although I'm sure it will fall on deaf ears

I wonder if it adminsitration on the Queens campus could have helped you make plans to visit the Paris campus?

They probably could have but to be honest I didn't even think of that at the time

A dear deceased British friend who lived in Paris for many years pointed out that Paris was wonderful, except for the Parisites.
