St. John's gives assist to boy with cancer.

Great article that bought tears to my eyes! Lavin is a class act who will certainly leave his mark on this University, and this city before he decides to call it a day!

Read that this morning and was blown away. Lavin has a good heart man. Genuine. A class act.

Not surprised in the least about the Yankees and Jets though.

Nice job by Lavin. I wouldnt be so quick to dismiss Yanks, Jets. Mark Sanchez not only met a young boy with cancer in my town a couple of seasons ago when the boy was invited to a Jets practice, but gave him his cell number and became friends with him. Unannounced, Sanchez showed up at the kids house a few weeks later. When the boy's mom told Sanchez that Aidan was having a really bad day and was asleep on the couch, Sanchez asked if he could just wait until he woke up. For three hours Sanchez just sat on the couch quietly waiting until the boy woke up. When he did, he opened his eyes, and said "Holy crap Mark! What are you doing here????" The boy died a few weeks later, and Sanchez on hearing the news cried openly.

Great job by Lavin, but there are some really outstanding young men on our local pro teams, and I wouldn't paint the organizations as uncaring.

Lavin continues to impress and amaze everyone on and off the court, this man deserves more than a standing ovation for all of the work he has done, he is a great person, I would like to meet him one day.

Not to take away from what STJ did but why are you 'not surprised' at the Yankees. Have you heard of Hope Week? The Yankees started that a few years back and its so popular other teams have copied the concept. The Yankees have in a couple of cases donated more money to relief efforts to storms and tragedies than LEAGUES have donated.
