 The success of SJU with Lavin has caused the desperate ACC to raid the Big
East . Our 11 teams in the NCAAs compared to their 3 coupled with only Duke and NC as viable big time powers has led them to try and solidfy their conference by raiding the BE.

They realized with the emergence of SJU as a National Power the Big East would dominate the east coast. So in order to get stonger they haved attempted to make us weaker.

Sorry you "good old boys" but the BIG EAST will "RESURRECT" themselves into a bigger and better conference with SJU leading the way in NYC and in MSG.

You are living in a fantasy world. Anyone who has attended a game at UNC or Duke will see that support for ACC basketball is light years ahead of St. Johns. In fact if you took a poll of Manhattan I will bet you that combined there are more Duke/UNC fans than there are are St. Johns fans. We have a long way to go before we can start talking about dominating anything. We need to have realistic expectations.

 
 
Agree. But good job danfog. This is the way we must be thinking. Need to think like winners. We also must reassert (assert?) ourselves at The NYC College BBall Team, and that no one is going to claim that again. This garbarge by the SU president and Calhoun has to stop. And we fans and SJU itself must make it stop and take a stand. We've seen how NYC can get behind the team in the past, and we can gain that support and enthusiasm again. Agree with Boeheim's joking on one thing...."NYC or Greensboro....let me think about that for a second and get back to you."

Three words for you Danfog: PUFF PUFF PASS
 
Aside from Duke and North Carolina, ACC basketball is terrible !! Even North Carolina is stumbling , 2 years ago they lost in the NIT !
What the guy meant was, SJU was rising and there would be another powerhouse soon in the BE and the BE would be the dominant conference in America for many years to come.
Amazing how short sighted Syracuse and Pitt were ! The BE has the best basketball in the country even after losing Syracuse and Pitt and if those 2 teams waited, the BIG East could of made the football better. Like the BE could of had a scheduling alliance with Notre Dame in which ND agreed to play 4 games against BE teams. And then bringing in Air Force and Navy and ND plays them, so ND might have played 6 games against the BE.  

And just compare Big East Football with ACC football, is the ACC that much better ? USF, West Virginia, TCU weren't good enough Syracuse/Pitt ? The BE will add Airforce and Navy and they'll make the same money Syracuse and Pitt generated. Adding Navy and Air force just proves its about money, these teams are money makers not National Champions.

Other teams will replace Syracuse and Pitt.  When all the jubilation goes away and Syracuse /Pitt start playing those teams in the South , they'll realize what a horrible mistake they made.
