Wasn't one of the writers on The Sopranos, Terence Winter, a St. John's Grad??
The Sopranos have an episode (written by Michael Imperioli, not Winter) about the crew being upset with the City of Newark having a parade to counter the Columbus Day parade?
I went to the Staten Island campus in the early 70's and a classmate of ours was Joe Colombo Jr., (never came to class much), and during his time there was when his father was shot in Columbus Circle.
On June 28, 1971, Colombo was shot three times at an Italian-American Civil Rights League rally he was leading at Columbus Circle in Manhattan. The attack took place in broad daylight, in front of thousands of people.
The gunman: The assassin, a young Black man named Jerome Johnson, was immediately shot and killed by Colombo's bodyguards amid the chaos. The aftermath: Although doctors were able to save Colombo's life, he was left in a persistent vegetative state and never recovered. He died on May 22, 1978, at the age of 54.
