St. John's cheerleaders refuse to perform at game

My friends daughter is a cheeeleader for the school. When you consider how little there is to cheer for I get it. Plus they are real good

Seems like an overreaction to a small mistake.

In other words, it's a typical day on a college campus.
I would invoke the Taylor Law and fire all their butts! Nah just kidding but I would hope they at least spoke to the school before taking such punitive action which only served to hurt our team. Besides, being that they attend St. John’s they should be more than used to royal screw ups.

I don’t blame them. While we willingly subject ourselves to this form of mental abuse following this team, they HAVE to and they have to cheer and show enthusiasm. I’m not sure they realize this when they sign up for this commitment.

They are the unsung heroes.

But they are not "women in sports", they are "women in dance". Chickens coming home to roost in the "everyone gets an award" generation.

Also, are the dance team members actually students? I always thought that they were hired by the school to perform.

I didn't even notice to tell you the truth as they were on the sidelines and did throw out T-Shirts. The Dance Team did not do a routine at half time but I figured that was due to the long program honoring the student athletes of the various athletic teams who made the All-Big East Academic team.

Unless things have changed they are students at St. John’s. I dated a few in my hay day.

Buck up kids.

There will be plenty of times in your professional life when others will get credit and you won't.

Sometimes it'll be an oversight, an honest mistake like this probably was.

Other times it'll be worse. It will be deliberate.

Life tip: Complaining about it publicly will not be a good look in either situation. Take your issue to the person in charge one-on-one.

I thought they were protesting the state of the program and will not cheer again until Anderson is replaced.

Some of the members here have refused to cheer for the program too. Their method of protest, will be to remain silent and stuff their mouths with pizza and beer instead.

Maybe the Athletic Dept could have brought out ALL the females on each Support Group on another timeout. Cheer, Dance, Band. Even at that, I’m sure there would be support people left out of being recognized as there are so many areas in the Athletic Dept which are behind the scenes. Let’s remember that Cheer is a support group, not an athletic team even though they are athletes.

Whatevs...
More look at me. The world revolves around my phone.
Cheezzz on a cracker. Boo Frickin Hoo. The World sucks and nobody cares about your insulated little life.

BIG SHOUT OUT TO THE TICKET TAKERS NOBODY SCANS LIKE YOU! (Both Male and Female)

The Dance team's performances are always a highlight at games. Their routines are physically challenging, extremely well choreographed, very entertaining, and require a high level of athleticism. Many on the cheer squad are outstanding gymnasts.

FYI the one male member of the Dance Team blew out his knee this season during a routine at the Temple game at the Barclay's Center. They do a very hard job, extremely well, and need to be celebrated for their hard work and talent.

The outcome of this story will be much more interesting than another year of Anderson as coach.
