St. John's and The NIT !!

As of now we are one of the last 4 in the NIT as a 6 seed (7 and 8 seeds are automatic qualifiers).

I hope we get in. It can only give Lavin and the team a chance to salvage something from this season and build a base for next season.

At one game over .500, I would not object to any postseason play for our team. That's my standard rule.

.500 or below should render you ineligible for postseason by rule (except for the automatic bid to the NCAA tournament, obviously).

I objected to the CBI when Norm took us there at 16-17, but will not object this time, because of our overall record.
 
Well Stephen F. Austin is NIT-bound after losing in its conference final so SJU, BYU, Northern Iowa or LSU is getting bumped as of right now.

That automatic bid number is going to be 10 or 11, depending on if Middle Tennessee gets into the NCAA tournament (which I think they will).

That's a lot either way (which doesn't help us), but is actually down from the last 2 seasons.
 
I think a case could be made, either way for the NIT.. i think if we get a bid, we should take it, just because of our history in the Tournament..Realistically, we will not win it.. In fact, a opening game loss is quite possible with this team right now. Losing to Northern Iowa or, a Ohio University doesn't set a good tone for next year but, it is one more game. I think the team is so unsettled right now, maybe we don't need another game to show our warts.

If we don't get a bid, put the balls away and re-group for next year. It isn't the worst thing right now.

when will the NIT bracket officially be released? I can't imagine it taking too long after the real tourny bracket is announced...
 
IF SJU gets in I think it's by the skin of their teeth and they think compared to some of the last people being considered, they would be a better draw
