As some of you know each year I like to post the St. John's articles from the different preview issues. I've copied the ones from Athlon, Lindy's and Street & Smith and attached them as pdf files. Not a lot of love from the big boys, but good bulletin-board material. Overly pessimistic in my view, but who knows.
Wonder about this comment "a dropoff from the gradual success Mullin experienced".

Seems fair to me. SJU has so many unknown quantities. I am hopeful based on the return of LJ and MH but make no mistake they too need to take big steps forward. Last year on a shaky team these guys took a back seat to Shamorie. Maybe it helps he is gone but someone needs to lead. Hopefully some of the others step up. I can’t wait to see them play.

Great reads, if not the best predictions--but we knew that. This is a rebuild, under solid leadership, i think. Thanks again NYCRedmen.

In what is supposed to be an improved Big East it is very difficult to get a good read on our team. With Steere having to sit out much of the non conference schedule it is even more difficult. Point Guard play, size down low and a viable third scorer are all relevant to our offense. I feel better about defense as we still have a number of quick and athletic players. What the outcome will be is hard to determine. Looking forward to it.

I think he probably meant to imply gradual improvement, which is true, but we all know that would have regressed this year if Mullin had returned.
