The St. John’s basketball team has big expectations entering the 2021-22 season.

College basketball season is here and the St. John’s basketball program will be looking to take the next step in the third year under head coach Mike Anderson.

Anderson returns one of the best players in the Big East with Julian Champagnie as well as the conference’s Freshman of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year, Posh Alexander.

However, aside from Champagnie, Alexander, and Dylan Addae-Wusu, it is a brand new roster for the Johnnies with nine new players on this year’s team.St. John’s looked dominant in an exhibition game against Division III Baruch but dropped a closed door scrimmage against Rhode Island, 85-83.

Very nice article, thanks for posting. For me, Posh showing incremental improvement in his perimeter game is a real key. If he can up his 3 point % from 30% 35% will make a big difference both in his success getting to the rim and in our ability to keep at least 2 three point threats on the court at all times, a key to success imho.

Thanks for posting the article, Otis
I'd be very pleased with their predicted record of 23-8 overall / 13-7 in league.
Three biggest issues for me:

1. Continued improvement and expansion of Posh's offensive game
2. Joel Soriano's ability to provide quality minutes playing in the post
3. The integration of 9 new players into the system (minutes, sub patterns, etc)

This team should make the NCAA's and perhaps make some noise this year
Barring serious injuries, anything short of that would be very disappointing IMO

Anderson said that 6-8 freshman Drissa Traore from Long Island Lutheran will redshirt this season
