How would you like to be the Hawk, who is required to flap his wings in uniform every minute of the entire game?

best mescot evaaaaaa. I crack up watching the hawk flapping his wings contstantly the entire game. I believe the person behind the Hawk actually gets a full scholarship for doing it, so it's not all bad.

Automated wings actually.

Watching Mich. St. makes me beyond jealous of the machine that Izzo has rolling along. This will be their 17th consecutive tournament appearance. That is more than amazing.

I admire the way he has kept this team together despite many injuries. Pitino has also gotten L'Ville through some tough patches this year. Respect MSU & L'Ville in your NCAA pools.

This is also only St. Joe's second appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 2003. St. Joe's fans were talking about getting Martelli out of there a couple months ago.

the A10 got in but we have no shot. Looks like only 3 BE teams will get in unless they put 2 in the same region which would mean no Xavier

Conference teams have always been in the same region. Usually, they wouldn't meet 'til the Elite 8.

I believe it was about 3 years ago when the NCAA decided to place conference foes in the same region for the early round games. Remember, Cincy and UConn played in the 2nd round of the 2011 NCAA Tournament.

If the conference has more then 4 teams they have no choice

Yes, they did have a choice. They used some creativity in the past.

It's not a rule but generally speaking they will not have teams from the same conference playing each other early which is why they will send them to different regions. Since there are only four regions if a conference has more then 4 teams then obviously you can't to that. They aren't gonna have duke playing NC early etc etc.

Respect for sure. Both good bets for final four they way they're playing.

Go back and look at past NCAA Tournament brackets. They wouldn't have conference foes facing off with one another unless it was in the Elite 8, Final Four, or championship game. There were many years where the Big East had more than 4 teams in the tournament.

The NCAA changed their ruling back in 2011 when they allowed for conference teams to play one another in early round games. Go look it up, and you won't see a potential match up for conference foes unless it was in the Elite 8 or later. I think it changed because conferences are larger nowadays than it was in the past.

Yes, I believe the last time St. Joe's was in the tournament was their perfect season of 2004. My son graduated there that year. Jameer Nelson was their star; a bit undersized but has had a long NBA career. I'm happy for them. They play second fiddle to 'Nova every year.

They went one other time (2007-2008 season) since that particular team.
