St. Anthony's HS of Jersey City Closes

Very sad. Hurley still has much more to give with regard to shaping young lives, so hopefully doesn't hang it up just yet.
 
Very sad, That school helped a lot of kids (and not just athletes) get a decent education and go on to higher leaning opportunities that would not have happened if it hadn't existed.

Same can be said for Rice, Tolentine, Power Memorial, and so many other Catholic high schools (and grammar schools as well; my old one closed about five years ago) that provided great learning opportunities for so many who couldn't otherwise afford them. Really sad to see.
 
Sad. I was hopeful that maybe one of their wealthier Alumni stepped forward to help. I guess it just wasn't meant to be.
 
It's early in the morning and I might be dreaming. Did SJU just offer Coach Hurley an assistant coaching position?
 
Hurley would be a great get if they can convince him to cross the river, and probably has a lot of gas in the tank. He'd make more than he ever made as a HS coach, and that could entice him to add one more chapter to a great career.

Kind of thinking that he's already received 2 offers from family members to help out.

He's going on 70 years old. Let him enjoy his accolades in retirement.

Maybe if the two we got would have stayed for more than two years without transferring (one on his own the other forced)...

It would actually be better to widely publicize that Hurley is the body double. Just the fact that no one would want to accidentally shoot Hurley would keep Pence safe.
