Something To Think About

Am I disappointed in our season so far, yes I am. Do I think the results so far necessitated over 100 pages of posts on Anderson, is he the guy: Rick Pitino: Our next Coach: No I do not.

Realistically, Cragg and Anderson have just received extensions so they are not going anywhere. Father Shanley has stressed his desire to support our program. My attitude at this time is to continue to support our staff and players, which is all that I can do.

Has anyone posting in these threads taken the time to think that maybe another school will use the negative comments regarding Coach Anderson and his staff against them in recruiting? Having been on visits with recruits, I have seen this happen. No player, or their family, wants to commit to a school where the Alumni are clamoring for the Coach to be fired.

Have to stop now, time to shower and get dressed to get to the Garden to root for my school. Have a Blessed day everyone.

Good post Panther. Hope you and the rest of our NY/NJ faithful turn out in droves and root our Johnnies on to a much needed win.

Great post Panther.

I know its in proposal state due to be presented to board in April, but I'll feel a lot better once I see tangible plans from Shanley on schools commitment to invest at level needed with reasonable time frames vs. desire.

If it's a tentative 5+ years to get there at best, it's going to be hard to stop fans from venting.

I would think nearly every Fan of this Team and Program is frustrated , disappointed and just worn out by , basically 20 years of pretty bad basketball , excepting a season or two .   This year is especially painful as pre season expectations were high , after the 4 th place finish last season and 10-9 record .                                  Most fans here , seemed to ignore the loss of the 8 players as being part of the transfer portal .   Many also , opined the incoming Group was going to be better and more talented than the guys who left .  That has overwhelmingly been proven false .    Mathis was going to be a lock down defender . Smith a dead eye 3 point home run . Soriano , the 6 ‘11 “ big man we had lacked  for years .  Wheeler was a blue chip Transfer from a possible NCAA contender , Purdue and 6’9” .  Pinzon a possible under rated HS player from a very good local Program .                        We couldn’t resist the temptation to forecast that NCAA bid and possible BE Championship , a La G town last year .                                                   Well , that’s not going to happen . Barring a similar miracle like the Hoyas last year .                     As for fan bases erupting over Poor Performances , nearly every School’s fans complain when the Team doesn’t win enough .  The Coach is always a target of such criticism .  But , that criticism is like the Stock Market , varying almost from day to day .  The Friar Board last year was actually thinking Cooley needed to be replaced .And , Cooley has had a far better BE  Record over time than any of our Coaches .     He’s still there and flourishing this season .     I think we , possibly including the Coaching staff , over estimated the fact that this year’s Team was basically a Patch Work Effort .    CMA thought he was going to have a Veteran team coming back this season and doesn’t .                                     I don’t buy the fact that he wasn’t happy with most of the Players who left .  Moore and perhaps , Cole Excepted . Earlington , GWill, Dunn, Roberts , McGriff had all played 2 Seasons and knew CMA’s system .  Losing them in their Senior year or 5 th year eligibility was a hole that hasn’t  been filled .                                                                        As for other Programs using the negativity shown here , to persuade recruits to go elsewhere , I doubt it has major impact .  I would say these Schools trashing our Facilities or 20 years of dismal results would be more convincing .  Not dumping on CMA .                                                                  The Bottom line for any Coach , College or Pro, is to Win !  If you don’t do that , it doesn’t matter what your Career Resume may look like .
