Solly Walker

Had the great pleasure and privilege of meeting St. John's legend Solly Walker at a pre-game brunch reception today.

In addition, he was honored at halftime.

If you don't know anything about him you should.

Someone we should all admire and respect.

I was at the pre game brunch also, it was a very nice affair. Am looking forward to meeting Jersey Shore Johnny at one of these events or games. Question, how do Redmen.com members meet each other. I can't just holler out, "who is Jersey Shore Johnny", lol

Maybe a secret handshake? Or a code word/sentence: "Think Mullin will sit on the scorer's table today?"

I personally would go with all Redmen.com members wearing a red dress cravat to special functions. Perhaps a red top hat.

Don't forget the tails and the cane.

at events redmen.comers sit on the tables to identify ourselves. I was sitting on the counter after the halftime getting a bronx pale ale and someone came up and said you must be mjmaherjr.

It's our own secret signal

Nice ideas
I vote for:
Simplicity
Redmen.com tee shirts
I wholeheartedly agree it would be nice to meet some fellow posters
Plan a trip when we make it back to the NCAAs
and when we return to a final four
Let's go for it all...when we are the final 1 !!!

But for now simplicity ( though I've been tempted to pay for an SS&G tee to see who might walk on by...)

all the best

Final Four? Is it okay if my friends take my ashes to meet my surviving fellow posters?

Back to Solly Walker. Great story, great man. As for Adolph Rupp, great racist who held out to the very end.

I first met him about 20 years ago when he was inducted into the St. John's Athketic Hall of Fame. What a great impression his life has been. The standing ovation he received was great.
