Not that there is anything good about starting conference play at 0-3, but in retrospect things look much more positive for us after tonight's victory. The truth is that we started the season with a tough part of the conference schedule. Maybe the toughest of any team in the league. A look at the conference standings after our game tonight and it shows six three win teams in the Big East and we start conference play facing five of them. That includes three of those games on the road. However if we pick off DePaul, then we won't be in too bad a shape at 2-3 with some potentially easier matchups ahead.
I have posted the current standings and our remaining schedule. We could be favored in six of our next seven conference games. If we can somehow manage to hold serve in those games we would be 7 and 4 with some more winnable games after that.
I hate to look too far in the future but if we can get some more of the type of play we got from Rysheed tonight, then we have a chance to land near the top of the conference when it is all said and done.
