iS8 playoffs this weekend and below is a TENTATIVE list/schedule of recruits playing. I am only going to post Saturday's schedule for now because the Sunday matchups are the winners of Saturdays games. Full bracket is on NYCHoops.net:
Saturday 5/19/12:
9AM @ Variety Boys & Girls Club: Playaz Club Sophomores (Isaiah Briscoe) vs. NIA Prep
10:15AM @ iS8: Team Flights (Felix Balamou & Chris Obekpa) vs. Brooklyn Badgers
10:15AM @ Variety:Juice All-Stars (Isaiah Whitehead) vs.Raising Champions
12:45PM @ Variety: Hoops Depot (Carlos Galan) vs. Ben Gordon All Stars
2PM @ iS8: Playaz Club Seniors (Darrick Wood) vs. Winner of Juice/Raising Champions (potentially Whitehead)
ADDITIONAL NOTES:
-These are tentative rosters, so players can always not show up and because this is the playoffs, players are always added. I know Anthony Bennett will be flying in to play with the Panthers (12:45 at iS8) and I've also heard there will be 2 top 10 juniors flying in to play with a team as well. Heard rumblings about a bunch of other national names coming in this weekend also. If anymore names are confirmed that I am allowed to publish, I will post them here.
-I know people will ask about JaKarr Sampson: it looks like JaKarr won't be able to make it in to play at iS8 this weekend. Heard he has some kind of alumni weekend/ring ceremony at Brewster this weekend. Things can obviously change but that's what I'm hearing as of now.
-If you want to go on Sunday, all of those games will be played at Variety Boys & Girls Club in Long Island City.
-There is a chance that iS8 will be unable to open up their bleachers on Saturday for seating, so if you come to iS8 on Saturday and you're driving, you may want to bring along a lawn chair to set up along the side of the gym. Or stand lol.
-I recommend you get to iS8 early if you plan on coming, because the gyms are usually packed for the playoffs.
-If you come, remember to wear ST. JOHN'S gear but also remember that there are NCAA rules which pertain to contact with potential recruits.
-I hope to see a bunch of you there. Those that have been at iS8 playoffs in the past will tell you that it's a true New York City basketball experience and the environment is always intense.
