Mike Anderson: “Well be a work in progress.” #sjubb. Mentions closed-door scrimmage against Temple on Saturday.

Mike Anderson: “I’m about relationships and I think that’s big. I’m a worker. You’re not going to outwork me.” #sjubb

“We’re still waiting.” - Mike Anderson on Ian Steere and Rasheem Dunn waiver situations

Nothing new on waivers for Ian Steere and Rasheem Dunn. St Johns is just waiting it out. Dunn told me: “I’m just trying to be the best me.” #sjubb

“LJ thinks he’s the point guard.” — Mike Anderson #sjubb

Mike Anderson says he hopes that sophomore guard Greg Williams can get back to practice this week. #SJUBB

Not like a billion dollar non-profit like the NCAA could, you know, hire enough "waiver evaluators" to deliver timely decisions.

Mike Anderson hopes Greg Williams can return to practice this week. Has been doing some things on court. Back has kept him out #sjubb

Mike Anderson on the strength for St. John’s - “We’re going to be solid on the perimeter.”

The concern - “We need leadership to emerge. That’s something that I’ve started to seen, but we need to see more of it.” #SJUBB

Mike, exactly my thoughts. He'll have a job in the booth when his playing days are over.

Up here in Ct. he has done a lot of mentoring and charity work as well. Great young man.

Are Steere and Dunn at risk for the whole season or is the waiver for eligibilty prior to December?

Ian Steere told me his waiver was filed a few weeks ago. Believes he has a very strong case #sjubb

Don’t get the time frame?

At practice after media day, Mike Anderson letting Steere hear it about a mistake. He commands attention #sjubb

Ian Steere just broke press and hit a 3. Athletic big!

Asked @StJohnsBBall head coach Mike Anderson who could be an X-factor for the Red Storm, and he didn’t hesitate - “Julian Champagnie has the potential to do some special things for us.” 6-foot-7 forward from Brooklyn

Per John Fanta

The takeaway from St. John’s today is clear - Rasheem Dunn’s eligibility status. The Cleveland State transfer could very well be the #1 option at point guard. The junior sat out all of last season, has applied to be immediately eligible here. #SJUBB

Just chiming in to echo the praise for Heron. Seems like a really great, mature, young guy with a terrific attitude. He had arguably more of a reason to be frustrated than anyone last season and he stayed supportive and enthusiastic on the court and off. Any behind the scenes concerns he may have had didn't show. Combining Heron's attitude and work ethic with LJ & Coach Anderson's is part of my optimism that we can exceed expectations. I've heard it said that teams take on the personality of their coaches and best player. No disrespect meant towards Mullin & Ponds (I'll always be a big fan of both) but while I agree we've probably taken a step down in talent, a bump up in effort & attitude may pay big dividends.

Could not agree more on Heron besides the body change, he was a different person today. Much more relaxed and talkative. Great hearing he and LJ are roommates and seeing his leadership come through. He is a totally different player than last year and I think it will translate very well on the court. Last year he did not appear happy but rather aloof; this year a leader who he enjoying the responsibility.

St Johns planning to take an international exhibition trip this summer, I’m told. Also will be in Preseason NIT Thanksgiving week at Barclays Center next year. #sjubb
