Press release

John's Athletic Department announced Thursday that the 2020-21 men's and women's basketball season will tip off on Nov. 25 without spectators in attendance due to current restrictions imposed on mass gatherings by New York State and New York City due to COVID-19. St. John's is hopeful that improving public health conditions will permit fans to attend games later in the season.

In order to offer existing season ticket holders maximum flexibility, St. John's Athletics has crafted three options for fans who have already purchased tickets and made their required contributions to the Red White Club.

Donate season ticket payments and/or required contributions to the Red White Club as a tax-deductible gift. While St. John's Athletics remains steadfast in its commitment to Red Storm student-athletes, the inevitable reduction in revenue streams will undoubtedly present a challenge to provide the necessary resources to compete at the highest levels on and off the field of play. Making a donation will help address these financial hurdles, as well as earn valuable Red White Club priority points.
Rollover season ticket payments for impacted games to the 2021-22 men's basketball season to preserve your seat locations for next season.
Request a full reimbursement of season ticket payments.

In the event that spectators will be permitted to attend St. John's Basketball home games later this season with limited capacity, a priority will be given to season ticket holders who elect to donate their payments for impacted games to the Red White Club and/or rollover their payments for the 2021-22 campaign.

St. John's season ticket holders can chose their selection by clicking here. An email confirmation from the Red Storm Ticket Office will follow after submitting the online form.

In light of beginning the season without spectators, St. John's Athletics is offering fans the opportunity to purchase an official Red Storm cutout to help fill the stands at Carnesecca Arena. Prices for cutouts begin at $59 with upgrades available to include an autograph from Head Coach Mike Anderson and ensure a lower level location for $85. St. John's students can also purchase a cutout to ensure their presence inside Carnesecca Arena for a discounted price of $10. To purchase, click here and be sure to review the fan cutout guidelines before emailing your photo to redstormsports@stjohns.edu.

For more information regarding season tickets and fan cutouts, contact the St. John's Ticket Office at 1-888-GO-STORM or via email at RedStormSports@stjohns.edu. Inquiries can also be directed to Courtney Perzan, General Manager of Ticket Sales, at 856-718-9904 or perzanc@stjohns.edu.

Does this mean that all BE schools will be following the same guidelines, or are we going to be facing away games with some fans in the seats? Doesn't seem fair unless the entire conference follows the same rules.

UCONN sent out a statement saying there would not be any fans at the games at Gampel Pavillion. However, coaches and players from both teams would be given 4 tickets each for family. Have no idea what other Big East schools are doing.

The men and women's Gamecocks currently will allow up to 3500 in attendance for home games. IMO, we should allow at least 1000 for Carnesseca Arena and around 4000-4500 at MSG.

I'm going to guess big east schools will have fan attendance policy uniformly applied

I know the athletic department is considering safety as the number 1 priority and it's hard to argue with that.

They are also planning nice things to thank those who have renewed tix.

We are in strange times for sure. Outbreaks have been rampant where people gather.

A wedding on the north fork illegally had 90 guests at a catering hall and 30 guests got covid. Distancing can be difficult to impossible in a stadium

Could not agree more. I would lve to get to games this year. I do not see it happening though especially in NY.

NYC still hasn't even allowed more than 25% in restaurants. And despite the strict restrictions numbers are still starting to go up. Don't see any way NY would allow it, like you said.

We be there at the games as a cut out. Hopefully they can make me thinner and younger looking.

I like that! Plus I would like to add more hair to my cutout! :)
