Dear Johnnies,
This weekend (September 13-15) our men’s golf team is hosting The Doc Gimmler Golf Tournament at Bethpage and anticipate 78 student-athlete golfers competing from St. John’s, Rhode Island, Lehigh, Lafayette, Hofstra, Florida Southern, Yale, La Salle, Holy Cross, Johnson & Wales, Navy, St. Peter’s, Towson and Manhattan.
As hosts, we want to make sure that we have enough volunteers to make this the best tournament of the Fall and provide the necessary support so head coach Mal Galletta and his team can worry solely about the competition.
That being said, I write to ask you to consider volunteering for one day or all three if you wish!
FRIDAY: September 13 (Practice Round)
2-3 Volunteers from 9:15 am to 4:00 pm
Tasks:
Load van at Carnesecca Arena for 9:30 am departure
Volunteer to replenish coolers on the course with ice and beverages as needed
Saturday, September 14 is a 36 hole day which starts at 7:00 a.m. and ends at 7:00 p.m.
4-6 Volunteers from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm (shifts available)
Tasks:
Assist with spotting balls, keeping coolers full, and live scoring
(Live scoring requires taking photos of players scorecards and texting to Victoria Lanza so she can post scores to website)
A volunteer is needed to drive St. John’s players from campus at 7:15 am to Bethpage and back to campus at 7:30 pm. Driver must be at least 25 years old.
Sunday, September 15 is an 18 hole day starting 7:30 a.m. to 2:00 pm
2-4 Volunteers
Tasks:
Assist with spotting balls, keeping coolers full, and live scoring
(Live scoring requires taking photos of players scorecards and texting to Victoria Lanza so she can post scores to website)
Please let Nick (Vendikon@stjohns.edu) know if you can assist.
