A step in the right direction and something I have been screaming about for the last decade on this board and others. Jsj or others can anyone explain why Staten Island is $10000 cheaper? If I were a middle class student who is at the queens campus and a commuter who lives in nearby bayside why am on the hook for an extra $40 k? What is the rationale between the tuition discrepancy between both campuses?

20 years ago I would agree with that statement but even with some improvements, it still pales in comparison to the Queens campus. I ended up taking almost all my major classes, Computer Science, at the Queens as the curriculum wasn't very challenging at SI.A step in the right direction and something I have been screaming about for the last decade on this board and others. Never been there but heard the SI campus is like a high school in terms of appearance. True or false?
The only answer I can think of and I hope I'm wrong, is that maybe the queens campus attracts more pell grant eligible students and the university feels justified in raising tuition since it can generate more revenue from the federal government analogous to a ear, nose and throat specialist overcharging for a visit to a person with good insurance. Maybe the si campus attracts more middle class families by ny standards and in order to stay viable needed to cut tuition so drastically? Not sure hoping to do some research and maybe talk to someone in admissions who can provide me with a solid explanation.
Yes, its almost all local residents and the parking lot is mostly made up of the high end leased cars that mommy and daddy got them. I'm also guessing that they view the queens campus as attracting a national pool of applicants, with the staten island campus mostly for local residents.
The problem I have is, i do not see a huge difference in academic standards between both campuses, If anything this cut may help the si campus, eg a kid from brooklyn may go to si instead of queens and save 10k. Beast does si campus offer a pharmacy degree?
