SJU & @bigeastconf will co-host the 2014 NCAA MBB

This is absolutely ridiculous.. Why are we hosting it with the Big East Conference? This is our home court and should just be us NOT the Big East Conf too. It sad even mid majors don't have to Co-Host with their conference. When the NCAA is at the Carrier dome its not hosted by Syracuse and the Big East. This is very frustrating, and a blow to the program.

Really.....a blow to the program? Where in that article does it say Lavin has abandoned St. John's? It might be time for you to push away from the computer. :huh:
 
It's not a blow at all. We are a major face of the Big East Conference. This ties our name and conference together and gives us NCAA exposure. It ties us to MSG nationally as well. Some dudes watching the NCAA Tournament watch Tv coverage somewhere in Idaho and see that games are being hosted by St. John's, Thd Big East and playing at MSG and it really ties it together for those outside of local circles who don't know much about us. It is smart affiliation IMO.
 
I've already ordered tickets thanks to being a season ticket holder although we can't play in it....guess I'll be visiting stubhub next February...

I just don't like that we finally get to host the NCAA's at MSG and its like we're only Co-Host's now. Everyone else in the entire NCAA has their own host site. Should be one of the times for the school to shine alone. I guess its not really a blow to the program but rather a missed opportunity for SJU to show off MSG, not the conference.

There are other schools that split. So we are not the only one. Minority yes but not the only one.

I think it has to do with manpower and the amount of people we can dedicate to working the event. Really not much ado about anything to me. We can't play there anyway so I don't care. My eyes will be focused on where we are playing hopefully
 
The prices of the hospitality tickets are ridiculous. If St. John's can't play in the East region it really does not interest me.
 
I don't see the big fuss. As long as SJU is tied to MSG, we are fine. We are still hosts...maybe not single hosts but so what? No one will think "oh, it's St. John's AND the Big East hosting"...they will likely think "St. John's is hosting this year". For those who don't know, people will know us nationally this year.
