QUEENS, N.Y. (June 29, 2022) –
The St. John’s Athletic Department registered its second-highest fundraising year in school history, generating nearly $3.7 million during the 2021-22 fiscal year that concluded May 31. Thanks to the generosity of approximately 1,600 donors, Red Storm student-athletes were provided with additional resources to excel in competition, in the classroom and in the community.

“On behalf of our student-athletes, coaches and administrators, I would like to thank each of our investors who has supported the athletic department at St. John’s,” said Director of Athletics Mike Cragg. “Without that strong commitment of philanthropy and belief, it would not be possible for our 340-plus student-athletes and 17 intercollegiate athletic programs to compete at the high level that they do. We appreciate the truly supportive commitment to our efforts in representing the very best of St. John’s.”

For the third time in the last six years, St. John’s Athletics surpassed the $3 million mark while increasing total contributions by 112 percent from last year. Champion Partners of the Red White Club, who make a cumulative gift of at least $25,000 annually, increased their numbers to 64 individuals. The year was also highlighted by nearly doubling Red White Club membership from the previous year, as a record 1,378 individuals held Red White Club status by making gifts of $100 or more.

“Further, we are grateful for the leadership of Rev. Brian J. Shanley, O.P. as our President and for giving our passionate alumni and fans a clear vision of the important role that athletics plays in the life of St. John’s,” said Cragg. “I wholeheartedly salute and thank our Institutional Advancement and Athletic Development teams for their amazing work throughout this milestone fundraising year.”
