Thank You and Good Luck Sim

No doubt, I think his minutes increase, his reps, and being able to play in a bunch of high stakes games will all contribute to a better junior year. I like him and want him back
Sim disappointed me, because I thought he deferred too much, to others. He could have the foul line shot anytime he wanted, and usually passed of to othesr. In crunch time he got more aggressive and showed his abilities. Hope he doesn't leave, his best is yet to come.

Sim is so undervalued here. Kid was getting 25 mins a game for a team ranked 5th in the country. Embraced his role as not being a lead scorer. Great teammate. Great team player. Athletic as hell. Defense improved a ton. Has a solid stroke (don’t quote his numbers to me you can see it). He's by no means perfect and yes can definitely improve but I saw a big difference from freshman year to sophomore and I know we will see the same from sophomore to junior.

If I was him and coach wasn’t looking to me being a starter (as reported by this board, who knows what Pitino is thinking) going into my junior year, I’d look for leave too.

I want Sim on the floor when the opening game tip is thrown.

Don’t go Sim.

And yet Zuby felt the need to make an explicit announcement.
Zuby is the one who had "buckets" of money thrown at him, by us lol. Totally different situation. Sim, presumably on the same deal he was, and with several high level wings coming in as competition.

I understand why he would test the market, but certainly hope he stays.
Completely agree with Ryguy's post above - he is improving and gained valuable experience. He's a starter imo, even with the additions. And potential to be a leader if he takes a step forward.

Sim was a starter, over Deivon Smith, on the 5th ranked team in the country. Do you really think he's afraid of new guys coming in?
It’s obvious that Paultz has some inside information. Sounds like it’s not a done deal. But reading the tea leaves, seems like the fact that Texas and perhaps others have made Sim a big offer coupled with the fact that we brought in some guys who play a similar position to Sim and are perhaps paying them more than Sim has made Sim receptive to hitting the portal.

It totally sucks, but it’s the current state of college basketball. Coach Pitino is not exactly known for exuding the “warm and fuzzies,” but hopefully he can convince Sim of his value to the program next year and going forward.

I wouldn't be shocked if Sim left. He only started over Smith because of the injury to Smith. Pre-injury, Smith provided lots of firepower at both ends of the floor and many here thought he was our best player. While that is arguable, no doubt Smith was a dynamic, game changing player. After his injury, Richmond's value began to reveal itself. He was nearly unstoppable taking the ball to the hole. Deft decision making, and could not be deterred even when fouled hard.

Wilcher had an extended audition as a potential starter next year. There were flashes of talent, and there was enough offense from the other 4 starters, but I don't feel he distinguished himself as having breakout ability. Good player, lots of teams would like to have him, but I'd question whether on paper we are an FF team with him as a starter.

Depending on how we finish the roster via portal, he may be relegated to an important sub. Given that, with eyes wide open, csn undestand why he may be weighing his options.

Good player, well spoken, nice kid. I hope he stays but unsure he will.

While at the Arkansas game in Providence, I was speaking with a very nice Providence “insider” who told me that the toughest portal issues for teams during Portal Season is that sometimes the issue with retention will be the NIL payment package along with playing time.
He said that holdover players might be asked to take less money, because most teams have a budget.
Players will then have their agents shop for a new deal because of a lower offer. And a lowball offer from a Coach might mean a message to leave.
I clearly hope Sim stays and makes even more money. I don’t have any personal insight into Sim’s situation. I’m just hoping for the best. He’s worth keeping and his talent and personality will make him successful.
He’s a standout at every level.

Agree with all but the last sentence. Good player, not a guy you build a program around. We are recruiting game changing talent and that has to figure i to his decisions to stay or leave.

Not every kid needs to or should be a game changing talent. As we’ve seen, bringing back good character kids with experience in the program is a recipe for success. One might argue that Sim is more valuable than any of the kids we’ve brought in so far.
