Showalter for Mets?

Yankee fans weigh in please.

I do not like Showalter so it would fit right in with rooting against the Mets!

Showalter is the man I want to manage the Yankees.  He would be a great hire for any team.  Pays attention to details and puts expectations on players.  He may be too serious for some players and Met fans.

Would rather hear from Orioles fans but they don't exist around here.

Hard to gauge since he's not the same guy he was 25-30 yrs ago when he managed the Yanks.

That said, the fanbase at the time was up in arms when George got rid of him and hired Joe Torre, who most everyone thought was a has-been from his awful Mets days. But lightning struck big time.

Buck appears to be the best fit for this team. Would love to have him.

Curious as to why you didn't put this thread in the Baseball Forum? Showalter can manage any team I am a fan of which includes Mets or Yankees so am hoping Mets decide to hire him.

hard to say.  he shouldn't have been fired when he was with the yankees.  the game with analytics has changed so much since then.  Not sure how he would do on the Mets.

Showalter changed the tone of what was expected of players.  Be professional, do your job.  Respect the game.

After he refused to fire some of his coaches the Boss didn’t like, George fired him.  He then went to Arizona a year or two before they had a team.  He was responsible for the Razorbacks having pinstriped uniforms and was involved with the stadium design and layout.  He wore out his welcome there and Arizona won the WS largely on what he set in place.

So he was involved with both the Diamondbacks and the Razorbacks? /media/kunena/emoticons/grin.png

After Chili got fired there were players in the clubhouse that wouldn't even talk to the new hitting coach. That shit never would happen under Buck. Sign me up as wanting him as coach. If he wears out his welcome in a few years who cares I think we would be in a better place as a team

That's good. Hope this lockout ends. Looking forward to baseball after today's game.

Love the hire !

For the first time in a long time, we have a manager who has successful prior experience.  I was afraid that they would pick another newbie. It's hard to learn on the job in New York - you're expected to win right away with no excuses if you don't!!!

I think they made the best choice possible this time.

Totally agree. They need a grownup in the room. I'm sure Buck will wear out his welcome in a couple of years but he is exactly what they need right now.
