Should We Change our Defense?

Should we fall back into a tight zone to give us time to double team passes to the corner or just take a chance that the wide open shots from the corner will not fall. Afterall, our pressing zone defense does meet the offense high, thus giving them a chance for an wide open jumper.
What do you think?
Sorry, didn't see the post on STJ Zone Defense.

If 3 players were not disqualified I think we would see much more man2man but the coaches know that without a bench you cannot play a tight man without fouling and the lack of depth will force us to play more zone than anticipated.

The zone is fine but we are not executing correctly. Perhaps when the are sophs it will be more imposing. But for now
the Freshmenar doing ok. Thats is why I said man2man and the zne when we need it By the timethet are jrs or srs It will look very different

Syracuse has made a living off of playing zone. When it is played well it can be a tough defense.

As Coach Dunlap answered in the pre-game interview today, the zone when done right makes the other team one dimensional. The zone actually makes them control the game by limiting the other team to be an outside shooting team. Again, that is if the zone is done right. The team is still thinking when they play defense. It would be a lot better when they become instinctual. Last years team also struggled when this defense was introduced to them. This team is more athletic than last years. Adding Amir would help them cover more ground with his length and intensity. Now, it would be interesting to see once we play teams that have legit inside scoring presence if the zone will still limit their scoring inside. We haven't really seen any front court that could push out kids down the block.

Last year, Josh Smith ate us up inside at UCLA.

Ok. How about the other Big East teams? I know we weren't able to handle Syracuse. I think we faired well against the others.

We weren't able to handle Syracuse? I believe we were tied that game in rebounds, weren't we? Yes they won because they exposed some of our weaknesses, but they were a very talented team on offense mostly.
