Shawnelle Scott Doing Well

Now there is a candidate for a big man coach as a future possible AC. Nellie may have missed a lot of bunnies (one of most painful was in the loss vs St Francis the night they named arena after coach LC), but he knew how to get into position to take them.

I think you're actually thinking about Lamont Hamilton in that game. The arena was renamed on Nov 23rd, 2004 when we lost to St. Francis by 1. Shawnelle Scott played for St. John's from 1990-1994.

For those that don't know the school Millennium that Scott is coaching is a very small academically rigorous high school where the vast majority of students go onto college. Scott is probably not working with a lot of talent.

The last big man with post moves that we have had.

Sat a few rows in front of me a few years back at MSG...Nice guy...

OMG! Dropped a plate of food at dinner last night and then a cup of coffee later that evening. Now get Nellie and Monty mixed up. May need a neurological exam!

Is Scott a teacher at the school as well? A lot of school districts require that all coaches are teachers. I'm not sure how widespread that is.

I believe the NYC DOE requires you to have a teachers license to coach along with other pre requisites. If you don't have a physical education license then there are even more requirements. I don't believe you have to be an active teacher though.

That's a district by district decision
You must have coaching and first aid/AED certification to coach
The basketball coach at my last school was a police detective
He was not a teacher nor did he have teaching certification

I don't know if Shanelle teaches their however I don't think Ron Naclerio has taught at Cardoza in years but he still coaches their.

As I said above, I believe you need a teachers license to coach in a NYC public school. That is where Shawnelle is coaching. You do not have to be actively teaching which is what Nacleiro is doing.
