Just declared for the NBA draft....

Will not hire an agent so he can return to school.

We knew this was coming. He absolutely should explore the option. I am not feeling any different vibe. Think he returns for his junior year.

Smart move on his part. It made Bashir Ahmed a better player and hopefully it will make Ponds a better player as well.

Smart move. His announcement almost sounds like he’s coming back already but taking all the advice he can get from the NBA.

Totally understand this move. Hope he comes back and if not best of luck to him

Really, any eligible player should do this. As long as you do not sign with an agent, you have nothing to lose.

Absolutely, the only decision is whether to do it after your Freshman, Soph, or Jr year. I confident Ponds will make a lot of money playing basketball one day. Hopefully this spring/summer guides him to the best way to learn how to get it.

The way things are going with this program, Ponds probably excels at this combine and ends up leaving.

Big news tomorrow

Since this news came out last night, will there still be big news today, or was this the big news?

That was the big news

The more players we have in the NBA the easier it is to recruit top tier talent. I hope he finds he is a first round pick, if not this season, after next. This is a win win. If he goes we are better off in the long run, and if he stays we are better in the immediate.

Either way , Shamorie has given our Program a shot in the Arm. I think another year works for him as he will likely rack up all sorts of numbers and can be a major piece to our resurgence . Good luck to him , both ways .

We get a bigger shot in the arm from Ponds staying and the staff landing two bigs with hands than we'd ever get from him going in the first round. If Ponds left and got drafted No. 1, it doesn't do squat for us except make us an 11-win team. 11-win teams don't attract future NBA players. Winning attracts players.

Totally agree, LJSA. I don’t recall too many benes we got from either Mo Harkless getting drafted after 1 year or Jakarr Sampson leaving after 2 for the pros. Shamorie needs 1 more year. Hoping he and his family realize that.
And thinking if he returns—and IF we get two bigs...but ‘there’ I go again!

I don't know, now it's looked down on you if you spend 4 years in college playing ball.
