And it shows that we need not fret about a recruit coming here - each player's heart and life circumstance will lead him to the college that makes sense - and Mr. Ponds here shares exactly that - learning Bball on the Brooklyn streets; despite different generations relating to Coach Mullin a fellow Brooklyn boy who went on to do what Ponds hopes to do - keep playing and excelling. And as Shamorie wrote, he got to stay in NYC.

Thanks so much for posting this - great article. Let's enjoy these kids and this year; they are a super likable bunch and fun to watch as they always compete hard and seem to enjoy playing together. It appears that both Ponds and Lovett love NYC, the fans & their coach!

Great piece. Surprising they'll likely go two recruiting classes after Ponds w/o any more players from BK. Granted, many kids leave the city to prep, but this dynamic should definitely resonate with some of the top public city players. There are many great destinations, and many reasons to choose them, but to a select group of hard-nosed city kids, this should really be appealing.
