There have been a number of decent academic schools who by opening med schools and offering 7 year programs that guarantee acceptance to med school for HS students, attracting some top notch students that otherwise would have gone to better ranked colleges.
FWIW, I'd love to see SJU establish an honors college to attract top hs students. A few endowed chairs to renowned NYers may also up our profile and attract students. Warts and all, a Bill Clinton as a faculty chair and occasional guest speaker would be a coup.
