I always forget whether Seth Davis is liked or disdained by this board, but he did include a nice mention of the team in his weekly blog:
Speaking of the Red Storm, Rick Pitino’s squad has definitely raised its game since R.J. Luis rejoined the lineup two weeks ago. The 6-foot-7 sophomore transfer from UMass missed the first five games of the season because of a broken hand, and then after playing one game, he had to sit for another five because of shin splints. He only had six points in 18 minutes in his return game (a four-point loss at UConn), but he had 11 points and seven rebounds on Saturday as St. John’s won at Villanova to notch its third straight win. That was the Johnnies’ first win in Finneran Pavilion since 1993. Last week also saw 6-foot-7 freshman guard Brady Dunlap break out for 29 points combined in wins over Butler and Villanova. The Johnnies are good and getting better, fast.
