As most know, the year 2020 will mark the 150th anniversary for the university.
Although it's 8 yrs. away, was wondering how many would be interested in purchasing a "coffee table" book that would commemorate the occasion.
I would suggest that the university entertain the thought of creating 2 such books.
One would be devoted to the 150 most influential people in the history of the university, with a heavy emphasis on non-sports related alumni who made their mark on the world.
The other would be devoted to the 150 greatest athletes (men and women) and coaches in school history.
Ideally, these publications would be very similar in style and format (to a degree) to the 100th anniversary book that was created to celebrate the centennial of St. John's men's basketball.
Since these initiatives take time to create, it would be a good idea for the university to take note now assuming there is a meaningful demand for the product. Obviously 2 committee's would need to be formed to select the 150
honorees for each book, as an example.
Is this something that would be worth the effort ? Would you purchase the aforementioned books? Let's assume that the cost would be $50 for the two volumes. Think it would be a great 2019 Christmas present for all St. John's fans .
