Seniors Rewarded / N.Y. Post

Fwiw, for clarification we aren't at 20 wins yet. I saw it mentioned on the Providence board and then looked it up, but we are at 19 wins. One of the wins being counted was against Franklin Pierce, a D2 school. Need to win tonight to get our 20th.

Correct

Well, the team does have 20 wins. But one is not RPI compliant. The Franklin Pierce game was a game, it did happen. I wasn't there but someone who was told me they saw it.

This has been common knowledge for at least the past several weeks. We have 20 wins, but only 19 of those wins can be factored into the RPI equation--allowing a D-2 team that has only played one game against a D-1 opponent could seriously skew the rankings and are thus left out. Dozens of D-1 teams have wins (and losses) against D-2 teams that count towards their overall record but will not factor into the RPI.

Let's get #21 tonight and put this discussion to bed for good.

Actually it's been common knowledge since the Franklin Pierce game. However, every RPI copying schmuck that runs one of those websites was let in on the fact that Franklin Pierce was a D2 team around the same time as the game, maybe slightly before, maybe slightly after. All RPI rankings are based on that game not counting. The neutral/home aspects of the NIT are in more question than the Franklin Pierce game's affect on a potential bid.
