Just got a phone call letting me know about season tickets seat selection.

must say the person on the phone was very polite and I appreciate the personal touch of the phone call.

but, on a Wednesday at 6pm!!!??? :fight: :furious: sorry most people are still working at that time, besides retirees and people that are self-employed I dont know who can make this. Most people do not live nor work nearby so this is a huge inconvenience.

This goes back to that commuter campus, small town mentality that is still and will continue to hold the university back. Make it on a Sunday at noon, have a DJ and food, make a yearly event out of it where people can show up and make a point to show it. Since its first come first serve seats, turn it into a big thing where people want to rush the doors.

Wednesday at 6pm sounds like the administration is thinking about themselves and just want to get this done and get home. Simply Pathetic. No regard for customer service or "alumni service". I am disgusted.

Did you let them know how you felt?

sure did... but I'm not expecting it to go far.

Sorry if I missed it but what was their reaction when you mentioned most ppl are working at 6pm on a weekday.

My problem is different.

Its seeing new season ticket holders getting better seats than those who have had them :)

Doesnt the seat selection basically apply to new season ticket holders ?

Not that your ideas arent good ones but realistically even if on a sunday your not going to get that many people to go. They have the map online and I just did it over the phone because it's not that convenient for me to trek out there for it.

They have a new program for prior season ticket holders. Without going down there you can request worse seats than you had last year, at no additional charge.

Really considering getting student season tickets this year since $99 is such a bargain and I always try to make every game if I can. I saw the student section t-shirt this year and all I could do was facepalm. The saying is "Rep The Red" and on the front is about as generic a screenprint as you can get. I remember kids in my elementary school playing for a travel team with the same kind of t-shirt. It's so boring and lacks creativity. Anyone who says "What is your idea of creative then? How much better can it get?"- please look at Villanova's "Nova Nation" t-shirts. I see them ALL over the place. You know why so many people wear them (other than just being a Nova fan)? Because they LOOK COOL! They are creative. I mean with all the monikers "Johnnies", "Lavinwood", being in NYC, etc. you would think the possibilities were endless. A stupid t-shirt obviously won't keep me from getting season tickets, but it's just such a travesty how basic and generic our student section shirt is.

It can be viewed here:http://redstorm-tix.cbscollegestore.com/store_contents.cfm?store_id=518&product_id=225011

With the amount of time you spent on game threads on both sites last year with your mood swings by the minute during the games I dont see how you made too many games last year :)

Basketball is 100% momentum shifts back and forth. It's a game of runs. It's not just me, it's going to happen every season on the boards. I just try to be frank and honest instead of sugar-coating things or being vague. Be thankful there is a twentysomething around who cares just as much as the older guys from the glory days of SJU hoops, because we are a rare breed! I work at a camp each summer and it was jersey day the other day. I wore my SJU jersey (Harkless to be exact) and had to explain to the kids where the school was and the famous players from the school. I try to do my own personal part to get the brand-awareness out there in public because I really want to see us take off like we used to.

There it is. The good ole age issue popping up :)

Meant it in a respectful way...paying some homage! The older guys are very supportive of the program and were lucky enough to have a real reason to be (we used to win...a lot). The new school SJU fans bite the bullet because we are so sick of losing but still stick with the team in hopes that we will rekindle that old flame from 1985. I have to say...going to games I see a lot more older fans than younger. I was impressed. Us younger guys need to be more supportive.

Funny thing is that I am guessing that Joe is at least 24. Given that, I think that my 17 year old son who will be a college freshman just 12 months from now, would think of Joe as way too old to be considered a peer of any sort.

no real reaction, sounds like he had heard it before. I'm sure that I am not the first person, nor the last to complain. You would think that administration would do something about it by now.

While we are on the subject of SJU short sightedness, both SJu and Villanova are running events at the US Open. Both offer food before the event, and both give you an option of very good seats and not so good seats:

SJU's "price" $500 for top tier, and I think $400 for cheaper seats:

Villanova's "price" $185 for best seats, $158 for cheaper seats.

Nova points out that the price includes a @25 donation to Villanova. Nice way to engender a positive attitude towards the school, while the St. John's event is open to only those who can afford $400-500.

As the US Open is expensive as is, I might very well go, but to the Villanova event. Kind of sad.

Another example is that at the end of the Villanova capital campaign, any contributor was invited to a free dinner the Waldorf Astoria as thanks. St. John's of course, never does anything like that and the President's dinner costs $1250 per person.

I know SJU has the big lawn party and things like that. However, they have such a long way to go for alumni to have a positive view of the university and actually feel good about donating to the school.

So you are the one who actually reads what he writes? :eek:hmy:

Actually I think that SJU one is for opening night and is a benefit for the tennis team. There is an alumni one on the 29th for I think $185 for mid-level seats and a reception for 2 hours. Point taken about the Waldorf dinners though.
