Seat Relocation

I know that this has been discussed forever but now the rubber hit the road on campus. We were moved from row CC to row H. From 3 rows to the court to 2 rows from the highest section. I expected to be moved but didn't understand how unsittable (invented word) these seats are.

I am 6-3 and I can't fit in the seats. I had one leg in the aisle and the other in the seat next to me. My son is 5'8 and he was struggling and 4-9 daughter was sliding off. When the stadium is sold out, which I expect every game to be, I won't be able to go. The people behind me decided to stand the whole game because they couldn't sit.

I get it. I'm poor. 50 years in seats mean a drop of the bucket compared to these donors cash. In terms of "fan experience" I'd much rather have our team be good and have my seats back. In terms of "fandom" I want them to be great. I am going to list all my tickets from the games at Alumni. I'd much rather watch the game on TV then sit in those seats. The kid in front of me will thank me or he would have a pair of knees that won't let him sit.

I am writing a letter, that won't be read or completely discarded, to Mr. Kull and asking for a refund for the seats as I would like him to sit there for a game. Next year I am just getting the garden games and I hope that they don't move us again. It's smart to get as much money for the program now before they level the playing field in terms of NIL and Pitino retires.

I told my kids that the new philosophy of the school is if you are married and a rich person comes along wants to marry you just leave your spouse and take the cash.

I was in those crappy seats last year. I moved my seats further up to avoid those "seat backs". Myself and many others were warning that those seats are unusable. I'm only 5'5 and I couldn't do it.
At least they might stop a five year old from kicking you in the back for 2 hours straight. Maybe?

I have a friend who is a big guy. He's only had season tix for a few years and doesn't make a lot of money. Still he has donated a little bit to the school. I was shocked that just a relatively small amount could put him in the 50th percentile. Still with a 2nd level Ca seatback he asked to be moved to the very last row at ca on the aisle so he could stretch his legs and lean back against the wall.

I sat in the bleachers for a bunch of years (like 40+) and honestly didnt mind too much. I'm thinking you are more upset with losing row cc (which was bleachers also).

You should find out when the next reseat is. You'd be surprised how far up the list even modest donations would get you.

There's a reality in college sports. You may be unaware that the school only had 29 years of season tix records but even 5000 priority points wouldnt help much.

I'd be surprised if they refunded your ca tix. You did select garden seats before donors who bought only garden packages so thats one consolation since you got better garden seats than they did.

Might be a case like what the Yanks and Mets baseball teams did, improve the seating but reduce the capacity.

+1000. I share your frustration and it is disheartening that we as paying season ticket holders or anyone else has to be subjected to others knees, backs and elbows.

I too have been displaced from the lower bowl to what is now the most uncomfortable seating area that I have ever sat in at any public venue.

The fact that these redesigned seats were reviewed, tested and approved by multiple chains of 'professionals' during the Cragg years is a disgrace to every human that sits in them.

Presenting your valued, continued customers, the lifeblood of your revenue stream, to the confines laid out is disrespectful to healthy adults, let alone children and the elderly. Those who are above average size are better off paying for standing room only seating, there isn't any fwiw.

If a physical demonstration were to be rolled out (which should've always been done) where you had 9 men above 6'0"/200, sitting infront and in back of one another it'll show that it simply can not be pulled off. Yet the seats exist and paying customers are demanded to deal with a fire hazard of a situation for 3 hours over 5 nights this year.

At the end of the day it's just sad that first time fans are left with this impression. I look around at all of the uncomfortable people sitting around me and sigh. It is simply unacceptable and something has to be done in the Spring to correct it. Money is being lost each and every time that you ask people to sit there.

It really should be unacceptable. Everyone sitting around me Saturday agreed the higher seat in the bleachers was well worth not being subjected too it, and the bleachers arent exactly comfortable either lol worst seat around

I’ve been stuck there for years already, it’s not a new situation. Many of us have contacted the school over the years - by definition if you sit there you aren’t a big enough donor that they are going to lift a finger. They know it’s a problem, and if you know something is a problem (for years) and don’t do anything about it I wouldn’t think it will change.

From the SJU perspective having these awful seats is being leveraged for donations. It was suggested right in this thread a few posts back. Don’t like it - give money to move up.

Don’t expect the situation to change.
