Season Tickets

This will likely be our last year buying season tickets for SJU. With the outrageous mandatory upfront donation and then price of tickets, one would think this team would be more attractive to watch. With no one exciting on the recruiting radar and what seems to be a very average season at best, I just don't think it makes any sense to continue to buy tickets for the season. Does anyone else feel this way, or is it just me?

I understand the frustration but why don't you just do the stormsaver package ?

Maher is right. And yet I still get the full package. There is really no discernible difference. But I guess its like when you go to buy something and they dangle the slightly better but more expensive option. And you get sucked in.

I guess that's an option, but it's still frustrating to continue to spend on the program. After the Hardy era, etc., and those games at garden those years, I got sucked into sitting in great seats at MSG as it was awesome being that close to the floor for exciting games, as that in and of itself is an experience I suppose.

How much is the mandatory upfront donation?

5k donation, then you pay for each ticket

That's not for all seats. I think that's only to ensure the chair back seats at CA (which I agree, 5k is ludicrous). My father doesn't make any donation to the school, beyond the season ticket purchase.

I'd be even more pissed also if I was paying those prices :) The stormsaver package is a real fair package price wise. Plus I actually prefer the garden seats in their package than sitting closer to the court by paying up. Maybe because with the way we have been going the last few seasons I like it better being closer to the bronx pale ale booth

Sometimes i think the Bronx Pale Ale booth is the main reason why Maher goes to games. The lack of beer may be why he hasn't been seen at Carnesecca in a while.

I agree that is for the chair back seats. No upfront donation required for the other seats.

SJU is hardly the exception when it comes to tying donations to great seats at athletic events. It's also a mistake in a flailing program, as it alienates the hard core fans and displaces them with casual followers of the team who donate but are too busy to show up most of the time, especially at CA
