Not really a secret at all.

I believe you can play two scrimmages or exhibitions or one of each. Nova has two real good ones.

Georgetown scouting for our Barclays Title game. Very impressive games for Nova.

RI should be a decent test. CBS has them ranked #78 on their Top 144 rankings for this upcoming year. Great to finally have some basketball back.

Rhody backcourt is no joke dowtin, russell, and thompson are really good. Should be a good test for our guards. They are being slept on in the A10 because Hurley left but David Cox should be fine and has a talented roster.

No, and there probably won't be any live updates either. Just a few Tweets after the game regarding who "won", who was impressive, etc.

No matter what the result, there's a poster on the other board who will claim we lost. He does it with every secret scrimmage.

Their big Langevine played very well, 23 & 10 rebounds

Was told a mixed bag for St Johns. Looked like a new team at times #sjubb

7of 10 for Keita but 6 boards, 5 fouls and a made 3, in 33 min. honestly not loving the made 3 especially with 6 boards and RI big killing it.

Fig numbers overall good except the 4 turnovers/ no assists.
Heron looks rusty by those stats.
rebounding looks the same. relying upon ponds and simon. and just under 6 is what Owens was giving us.

Scrimmages mean zero. Just getting the ball rolling. Coaches work on what they want to work on in them.

Ugh. I know it's a scrimmage, but still. Seeing Nova beat UNC by double digits and us losing to RI feels like more of the same. Especially because we were beaten by 3 pointers and a big man.

That said, I have no idea how hard they were playing. Hopefully they weren't trying that hard.

I know we lost, but I'll sign up for 22-24 from the free throw line everyday, and twice on Sunday. That's 91.7%. We'll win a heck of a lot more games then we'll lose this season, shooting like that, with that number of attempts.

Sounds like the big guy killed us. That's going to be a problem this year. Better we discover that now, then later.

No Josh Roberts or Marcus Earlington. Injured? I'm all for sitting guys with minor injuries in exhibitions. Maybe that's why the big guy killed us. Has to be part of the reason, anyway.

Ponds needs to take more then 8 shots. He might be the first player we've ever had here, who I actually wish was a tad bit more selfish (for lack of a better term) then he is. We won't win with him putting up only 8 shots (although he had 8 free throw attempts, so maybe he was hacked going up a few times).

From the "some things never change" department: Yet another team comes in here, and shoots an insane 10-17 from 3-point range.

As long as everyone came out of it healthy, I'm fine. If what's being reported is true (that it looked like the first time they ever played in a game together), then I'm starting to understand Mullin's thinking re: the nonconference schedule, more so then I did before. Maybe this will prove to be our bad nonconference loss (Rhode Island was picked 5th in the 14 team A10, which is not terrible, but not great, either).

Only an exhibition so can't take too much from it, but I'm not crazy about rebounding numbers. Even more so than last year, Rhode Island is small with only the one big. If we are going to be even in rebounding against them, we are going to struggle against teams with 2 or 3 decent bigs. Having said that, foul shooting numbers are great and like that Keita was able to stay on court for 33 minutes.

Can we lie to Mike Zaun so these next two weeks aren’t insufferable?

Seriously though hopefully this helps the players and the staff prepare themselves for the games that matter. This isn’t one of them
