Scout's 2016 Recruiting Class Rankings

Nice to have the ranking at #21. But had this been a "new additions" kind of ranking, we'd be even higher with the "additions" of Messrs. Owens and Lovett. Thanks for sharing.

We have to be careful to temper this. It doesn't mean we are the 21st best team in the country, not by a long shot. Our roster even beyond the 4 freshman, is still subpar compared to what other school return. Still a really encouraging view for the future.

Beast must've went out and saw the new captain America this past weekend, and has been inspired into becoming the noble "Captain Obvious" ;)

Our class isn't better than Nova or Marquette?

The rankings don't include transfers or LoVett and Owens

I get that but still. Nova have Spellman and a 'project'. Ponds Ahmed and the German don't trump that?

And Bailey of Marquette is headed to one of those ten year Mormon missions. :)

Let me ask you: When you are a smart ass to your parents, you they just send you to your room, or do they suspend your allowance also?

The point is, with many on here suggesting an NCAA bid this coming season, a top 25 class on top of current roster likely will not be enough to catapult us into the middle of the Big East where at large bids are dispensed.

Lol just messing around Beast. And I just really wanted to make a captain America reference because I saw that movie this weekend and thought it was phenomenal.

All kidding aside, I think we all know we aren't going to be the 21st team in the nation, but I do think we can flirt with a NCAA tournament. But I do understand those like you who think it'll take more time I think you might end up right, but I see Providence and Butler taking a step back next year, meaning there is room for a team to step up in the standings, why not us ?

Paschal is very good for sure. But still I'd go with St. John's class if you are counting transfers and even if you aren't counting transfers

Prediction: If everything goes smoothly with this class and everyone presumably suits up from Day 1. We are going to the BE tournament final next year. 9:2 odds on that bet the casa.

It's not all that obvious to all on here. Plenty of blind optimism on this board. For example, check out the post right above mine here. :woohoo:

Let's revisit this right here in mid-March and see. Not to mention I was giving outrageous odds on it. +450 would not be offered to make the title game. It would be much closer to 3-1

The definition of blind optimist is to be optimistic without any reason. So there is no blind optimism here, because we all have reason to be excited. We have a deep and talented lineup. Young? Yes. Will there be growing pains? Yes. Do we have an unproven coach? Yes. Is it possible we are just a sub par big east team next year? Yes.

But it is not blind optimism to say we can make the tournament. We have a lot of guys capable of doing a lot of good things for this team and this school. We have guys like Yakwe and Sima whom we've already seen suit up and we already know are good talents. We have Ponds and Lovett, a highly rated guard and another highly rated guard who already has a year of running the offense in practice under his belt. So no there is no blind optimism. There is much reason to be excited to be a St. John's fan right now.

Nice.

When you add LoVett and Owens to the list of new 2016-17 players, the program's direction really is encouraging.
