·       Web Release QUEENS, N.Y. (Feb. 1, 2021) – The BIG EAST announced on Monday a pair of changes to the Red Storm’s schedule for the month of February. Originally scheduled to meet Butler on Feb. 10 in Indianapolis, that game has been moved up a day and tip-off has been pushed back from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on FS1.   Slated to have a week off between games with Xavier (Feb. 16) and Villanova (Feb. 23), the Red Storm will now make up its game with DePaul on Feb. 20 in Queens.  Originally scheduled for Jan. 2, that contest was called off at the last second due to testing irregularities within the Red Storm program. In light of these changes, St. John’s now has to make up just one postponed BIG EAST game, UConn.

Not sure about the logistics, but it would be beneficial if we could play our games with Providence/Seton Hall at MSG.
With NY venues partially opened to the public by then, would be great for our newbies to get the feel of the Garden floor before the Big East Tournament. No conflicts with the Knicks or Rangers on either of the days in question.

A UCONN makeup game at the end of the season could be for 5th place, with a potential NCAA bid hanging in the outcome.

If the game were to be madeup, I'd rather get them at Carnesecca. Would hate for our first home game at MSG have 10% capacity occupied by UConn fans.

That would not happen.

James Bouknight will return for UCONN's game against Providence Tuesday evening. He will add another dimension to their team.

Max 1900 fans...so, would be nearly all SJ fans. not sure how many, if any, we are obligated to offer visiting team.

UCONN fans would be there. En masse.

No.  There would not be a public sale of tickets via ticketmaster.   We are not offered tickets at any of our visiting games where they have limited seating.  I am guessing that would be the same.

If we reschedule UCONN at the Garden, I hope you’re right. But two things concern me.  First, it’s MSG and they may insist on selling some tickets publicly for this game, especially since they know ho well UCONN draws at MSG. Second, nothing’s to stop UCONN fans from making high offers on the secondary market. If I were going to the Garden for this game, I would never sell my tickets to a UCONN fan. But that’s me.

But this issue could be easily solved by rescheduling  the game on campus.

Believe SJ controls tickets, MSG owns concessions at Garden. In fact, in the distant past Ed Manetta made certain games available only if purchased as part of a package to dissuade teams like Syracuse from overwhelming us. So, its  up to SJ. As Beast says tickets would be available to SJ season ticket holders first. If we couldn't sell 1900 then we deserve what we get.

My understanding is the StJ's leases the Garden for its home basketball games for something like $250K+/- per game, or otherwise guarnatees such sum to the Garden for each game.

For that reason I doubt that StJ's with current budgetary issues playes any home basketball games at MSG this season.

Not an SJU alum and dont pretend to know about the cost of playing at MSG vs. somewhere in Long Island but as a fan I hope we never leave MSG. There is nothing close to the Garden for an electric atmosphere when we are good and hope we never leave the Big Apple for a good portion of our home games. Plus I doubt you could get a Bronx Pale Ale at a Queens or LI arena.

NCJ - Agree on value of MSG.

i was thinking of hybrid where we play first few out of conf cupcakes at Carnesecca, lower draw BE teams at Belmont and then the marquee match ups at MSG.

Let's hope we ramp up quickly and can get big time at MSG again after virus subsides next year and beyond.

What would stop those St. John's fans from selling them on the secondary market though? If the price was high enough I'm sure many would consider it.

Everything is conjecture at this point and i don't believe in the end we will schedule a game in the Garden or elsewhere.   I remember hearing 10k is break even at msg, so reason dictates that it would lose money and only be done if it somehow helps the team.

Boom goes the dynamie.

Hypothetically, since I don't believe we will see a game at another venue, BUT,

In the last couple of years, SJU has cleaned up the season ticket holder list to eliminate accounts where ticket resellers had season tickets and would profit by selling off game tickets at higher prices.   Since SJU would presumably control ticket sales, one GOAL of hosting in a place where fans are allowed would be to have our fans attend.    Any tickets sold would be directly traceable by SJU and should they show up on resale sites, and even if legally resold, can easily be traced back to an individual.  Those individuals could find themselves in far less desirable seats in the future.

But that's just the Sicilian in me coming out.   :)

My opinion: If our fans have an opportunity to buy such hypothetical tickets, their asses better had be in those seats.
