Former Monroe College guard Davon Marshall led Liberty through the Big South tourney this week and into the big dance. The former Monroe Mustang (who played there with Marco Bourgault and Orlando Sanchez) shot better than 70% from three (12 for 17) in his three games in the Big South Tourney. Marshall was named Tourney MVP for Liberty who lost 14 of their first 16 Division one games this season.

The Beauty of tourney week is that getting hot at the right time can get a team a spot in the field of sixty eight despite a less than stellar year. Here's hoping that Marco will be inspired to emulate the run of his fellow Mustang. I believe that if you can shoot 70% from three it will cure many other offensive woes.

I love this kid. I advocated signing him last year. He's a 5'11 shooting guard, but he can score and shoot like crazy. I don't see how kids like this don't get sucked up by high majors. We have all top 100 kids and we go through scoring droubts every game. Put a kid like this as your 10th guy and pull him in for offense when nobody is doing a thing. He's also a good athlete and running the point for them (out of position).

Because a lot of these kids don't want to be 10th man on a big roster and would rather start for a lower team :)
