Sampson to prep

stjbb commit JaKarr Sampson will do a postgrad year at Brewster Academy, per Don Anderson.

Bad news for st. johns, i guess Sampson feels preping for a year is better for him instead of trying to become eligible in dec. The only way that I see it is that he is either further away from becoming eligible then first thought or he wants to re-think his options(reopen his recruitment).

On the other side of the coin does this give Lavin an extra 'ship for next year.

He still can qualify for december according to his AAU coach

Anderson said it was possible Sampson could become eligible in the second semester and join St. John’s in December.

“It’s whenever he becomes eligible,” he said.

Anderson said Sampson remains committed to St. John’s.

“Yes,” he said.

If he is further than anyone knows, then maybe going back to Brewster is the best thing he could do. He is one heck of a prospect and I would love for him to not reopen his recruitment, but that is a decision JaKarr has to make for himself. I wish him all the luck in the world.I hope to see him in Red and White when he gets his academics in order.

I know for a fact he loves STJ and it would surprise me if he decided to go else where but you never know. Hopefully he will spend some time in the weight room & working on that jumper in the meantime before he suits up for us

Just read the rest of the quotes, lets hope he gets his grades and can don the redstore uniform in dec, along with garrett and Pelle.

SJU fan forever.

Hell yeah JaKarr! Still committed to the Redmen and getting his work done...I hope it's December but I'll be fine with next year too for JaKarr...This staff will help JaKarr get to the next level whenever he gets here

F the NCAA...After clearing every kid that has done coursework at Rise Academy, they decide to deny these 3 kids without proof it seems...We have some great St. John's lawyers...I think this sounds like a good case for some of them to take up...sounds like complete BS that the NCAA has denied these kids simply because they don't believe they could get As

Get it done JaKarr and we'll see you back in Queens real soon!

Well I think it's good news...he affirmed his commitment to STJ as opposed to stating his want for re-opening his recruitment. Hopefully he gets his academics in order and plays in December...at worst, next year. I'm just glad he isn't gone for good.
