As I'm sure most of you know, the selection committee focuses heavily on top 50 wins. If we are to finish right on the bubble (if the season ended today that's exactly where we'd be) the out of conference games could be what make or break up.

Here's the RPI of the teams we've faced:http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/rpi/_/teamId/2599

So far Providence the only top 50 team we've beat (though we beat them twice). Syracuse has fallen to #62 after injuries and are trending downwards. Minnesota got off to a very disappointing Big 10 start and that may not end up as even a decent win. There are however two bright spots:

Saint Mary's- RPI 53- 9-1 in conference and 17-4 overall. Currently playing Pepperdine.

Long Beach St- RPI 68- 5-1 in conference- face Hawaii tonight. Funnily enough their record is only 11-11 but they have had a ridiculously tough schedule.

So, two under the radar teams that could end up being great wins. Both are playing tonight, let's hope they keep it up.

If St. Mary's could beat Gonzaga that would help.

I think that St. Mary's win is huge for us. Their only conference loss is against Gonzaga. They are having a good year and will be top 50 RPI by the end of the season. LBSU is a little more iffy because of how hard their schedule was out of conference.

Unfortunately, the Minnesota and Cuse wins don't look as good, but they are still good because they are teams from the power conferences. That always helps out.

Because of the strength of the BE, I think the conference record will be more important because of all of the opportunities to get top 50 wins. If I'm not mistaken, there's 6 or 7 teams in the BE in the top 50 RPI.

Very true, but because we could possibly end up 9-9 having a big OOC win or two would be huge. Syracuse looked to be that, but unfortunately I don't think so.

@ Butler, 2 Georgetown games and @ Nova. I think we need to win 2 of those and finish at least 500 overall in conference to get in tourney as an at large bid.

Tuesday night is huge!
