Saddle up

 As I said in the Nuri thread, this has really gotten me fired up. I'm tired of all the bad news after the extreme high we were all on last year. I'm not letting this temper my enthusiasm for the future of this program, and it shouldn't for any of you. Now here's my plea:

Come out in greater numbers, more vocal, and lets support this f***ing team, and the players who remain loyal. After all the momentum from last season, there's no way this team and especially this staff deserve the momentum from the fans to come to a screeching halt. Enough of the negativity. Let's show these kids that they made the right choice coming to St. John's. Let's show current recruits that coming to St. John's is the right choice. Let's get behind this team and will them to a couple extra victories. Many of us are calling Nuri a quitter. Let's not be like Nuri. Get out to Carnesecca, get out to MSG, and do NOT quit on these guys!! I wish like hell that we had a home game tomorrow night. I'm ready to support these guys more than ever, and it's time for everyone here to do the same.

WE ARE...

 I agree, great post. We need to come out more than ever. I NEVER wear red except to St. John's games. I always have red St. John's gear on in order to make sure that I won't be misteken for a fan of the opposition. And why can't our fans stand up and cheer during introductions? Maybe some enthusiasm from the fans will pump up the players on the court.

Great post and I do agree, but you are asking the fan base not to quit and one of the players on the team did after only 9 games.

 Good post.

I remember going to most of the home games after the Pitt scandal and cheering as loud as ever for the players who did the red and white uni proud.

Those remaining players on that squad deserved it, just like these guys do today.

Maybe we won't have a winning record this season, but it doesn't mean they are going to quit, nor should it mean that we all quit on them.

I will be at CA with my family on 12/21 to cheer them on for sure.

And buckle up - it's going to be a tumultuous ride.

Coach Lavin is undoubtedly working as feverishly as possible (under the circumstances) to restore hope and confidence in the program. I expect him to pull a rabbit or two or six out of his hat in short order.

No inside information here just a belief in his indomitable spirit and keen sense of drama.

What we need now is a couple of big commits that would be just what the Doctor order to get the team and fans out of thus funk Go get- em coach

usguard, you hit that one right on the head.....We would forget all about this other foolishness, that we can't control anyway.

 The problem is if we were to get Sampson,Gathers and or Pelle we would have to wait until the spring. Which would be good but we will be sweating all winter.

Forget them...they are not coming. Although I would love Gathers, getting him to recommit is now an uphill battle. Too much negative press to deal with.
The question is who are the other recruits we are promised or is the staff blowing smoke up our azzes? There are a dozen players in the 3 - 4 star category that are still open...why is our name not mentioned with them? Tony Chiles and Rico Hines better make some meaningful recruiting trips once Lavin returns or one of their salaries and that of coach Keady may have to pay for Barry R to come on board and help right the ship.

CC players come and go. Some leave a huge mark on our program, others not so much. We as fans need to be a constant and support the kids who choose to play here. I myself was expecting this to be a re-building year with more downs then ups, even before we found out about Garret, Pelle and Sampson not being eligable. For the kids who are here, its baptism by fire. Which will hurt in the short term but help them in the long run. I have no doubt that we are headed in the right direction. If it takes a little longer then I would have liked, I'm willing to wait it out knowing that our program is in the best hands that I've ever seen it in. With no direspect meant to Louie.

I have rarely missed a game in the last 15 years and, as those who sit near me know, I can be quite vocal at times. I wear my Redmen gear nearly every day. My vanity plate on my truck says "STJNSFAN". I'm doing my part.

 Great post!
As a season ticket holder, I will be there.
I have not given up. We have the core of a solid team. The game experience and the tough schedule this year will really help in the long run.
We will add more top shelf recruits.
Here to Lavin's good health and this team sticking together
All will be OK!

There is no one path to progress/process from being a mediocre program with poor coaching and poor recruiting back up to the mountain-side. We under Coach Lavin are taking our own unique path and must wait as it unfolds to actually see what will happen.

One can speculate upon the future by glancing the present and past. From all angles we are on an upward swing to wit:
Lavin got the most of last year's inherited team - which he had to learn in a hurry;
Lavin and staff recruited the hell out of the country with not much time to waste;
Lavin signed recruits from states that Louie and others would only dream of, I mean Texas, Pa, Ohio etc.
Lavin got the $$$ and excitement rolling in;
Lavin (and of course all those working with him in front or behind the scenes) got MSG to better cater to us as I believe our kids now even get a better locker room - and every little thing counts;
Lavin got tons of positive media attention;
Lavin brings so much to the table;

Shall I continue?

Losing a few recruits to grades or transfers is nothing new - and Syracuse, UConn etc can't throw any stones; we are in process.

Finally, JCs sometimes work out and SJU has had a few stellar ones - Billy Goodwin, Walter Berry…

Too much hassle and challenge in life to turn this post into a negative thing - let's leave that in the past for Jarvis/Roberts.

all the best

and remember what Pavlov and his dogs said on their deathbeds - the two keys to life are????????????

Passion and Gradualism!

We can have both if we just chill out. Go Army beat Navy (eventually)
