Sad Phil Sellers Saga

Very sad. I don't remember Sellers being a back-to-the-basket player; all I remember is that he was one helluva player who could dominate a game and often did.

Medicare would take care of most of his hospital/surgery bills but doesn't cover long-term care, which will drain a bank account in a nanosecond and force people onto Medicaid.

Interesting to see if Vitale steps up; I knew him way back when and all I will say is, we shall see; I certainly hope so, he certainly can afford to help.
And just to avoid sounding like a hypocrite, my older brother and I; we both knew and played a bit with and against Phil back in the day, have made a donation. A great player and fierce competitor, but more importantly, a proud and really good, stand up guy.

So sorry to hear this. I remember reading about Sellers when he was at Tom Jeff. The recruiting battle for his services was one of the first epic recruiting battles that I can recall. I watched many games during the magical 75-76 season on UHF Channel 50 hear in NYC. Phenomenal college player. I will donate.

SJU & Rutgers played many intense, close games while Sellers was at Rutgers and often times he was the difference in those games.

Medicare pays 80% of my medical. I am fortunate to have secondary insurance through my Union which takes care of the rest. Health Care in America is prohibitive. At 75, having appreciated the life that God has Blessed me with, I have a DNR. Don't want to put any financial stress on my family.

He was one of the few small forwards that Beaver Smith couldn't handle. Those were competitive games.
That '75-'76 Final Four team was formidable: Sellers, Jordan, James Bailey, Hollis Copeland, Mike Dabney. Unfortunately for them, it was Indiana's perfect season.

Those were some great games. Remember one Saturday afternoon game for the ECAC championship at MSG where I played sick to leave work early (and as I was driving to game I thought I was sick until I remembered I was just acting 🤣) . We lost something like 76-73 but it was a great game between two stacked teams (probably the year RU made it to the final 4).

Is there a gofundme link? Lots of little donations can make a big impact.
