Really? New Jersey State University wants compensation from the Big East?

I fart in their general direction! :pinch:

The Big East should pay up, but tie it to a quintuple repayment contract if Rutgers jumps ship.

Sounds fair really. Rutgers tried really hard to get a BCS team to play them...at home...on short notice. I heard they left a few voice mail messages with the Big 12. Some emails were returned from The Big 10...in the form of "out of the office" responses.

Its BCS or bust. You see, if they schedule another FCS team, they would have to pay them, and that's not fair. Plus you can't count two FCS wins in a season towards being eligible for the Beef O'Brady Bowl. No BCS, no FCS... the only option is too ask the Big East to pay them for not playing.

NJ State should go f*ck themselves. They brought nothing to the conference, yet gets to go around and show off its slick facilities built with NJ tax dollars. By the way, when are they leaving the BE?

Since other BE schools are in the same situation why doesn't Rutgers just schedule another game with one of the other BE teams. So maybe they end up playing Pitt home and away. You can make the newly scheduled game count as an out of conference game. Not the ideal situation but better then being paid not to play.

I like the idea of scheduling another Big East team especially since most are in the same boat. What about if the Big East and an en of season matchup to make up the lost game. 1v2 as a "championship" game 3v4 5v6 7v8. Since this wouldn't be a 13th game technical the NCAA can't say anything. I think the law states that only a conference in 2 divisions with 12 teams can hold a 13th game as a conference championship.

To answer the question as to when RU will leave the BE it won't be until either the ACC or Big 10 comes calling at which point they'll be replaced by another fb school and won't we all be looking forward to the big SJ - Southern Mississippi or SJ-East Carolina bb rivalry that will ensue.

BE has come up with some 42.5 milllion as a result of WV (20 mil), Syracuse, PITT and TCU (5 mil each), Houston, SMU, Cntl Florida, Boise St, San Diego St and Temple (2.5 mil each) either leaving or joining the conf so if they're willing to give up to 3 mil to Villanova to assist them in decideing whether to upgrade (a truly dumb move, IMO) I think it reasonable to assist Rutgers for money lost as the result of giving up a home game. Playing a home and away series with another member wouldn't be fair unless every conf school played a home and away series but would also be a scheduling nightmare as the other schools would all have to drop an out of conference opponent. Then all of those schools that had to give up a home game would be justified in asking the BE for a reasonalbe dollar amount for money lost with one less home game.
