Was reading an Athletic article about Rui Hachimura and lo and behold I see SJU mentioned as recruiting him. I don't follow recruiting as much as I used to but I don't ever recall seeing his name.
Overall it's a great story and I wish more kids would stick it out and progress over 3-4 years like him.

Lloyd showed video of Hachimura to Few. He was intrigued. “I did not expect him to look like that,” Few says. By that point, other prominent schools, including Arizona, St. John’s and LSU, had joined the hunt. Hachimura knew little about Gonzaga, but once the staff sent him some materials he agreed to visit the campus. He and Takahashi traveled to the States in the spring of 2015 for unofficial visits to Arizona and Gonzaga. Arizona was impressive, but Hachimura thought the school was too large, and he was concerned he wouldn’t receive the individual academic attention he knew he would need. Spokane, on the other hand, reminded him of home. “Toyama is just like here,” he says. “We have ocean and river. We have big mountain. There are lot of people and nature, and the food’s very good.”
