It really didn't talk much about any recruiting doubts, just the same old stuff. Everybody wants Lavin back. Just gotta cope while he's out.

Wood’s move appears to have little to do with Lavin’s health and more with his chances of meeting NCAA academic requirements for freshman participation. A source familiar with his recruiting told the Daily News, “It could come right down to the wire.”

Than why is the headline what it is So annoying

I agree, terrible job by Rubin....Also " players" want him back on the sidline-- and only 1 player- Stith is quoated in the article.

while the de-committ is obviously disappointing, and I hope its not a continuing trend, it could be a blessing in disguise. If SJU had another recruit ruled academically ineligible it might create a negative prejudice about the program after having 3 such rulings in 2011. Don't want to generate that kind of reputation for the School or for recruiting.

I think you hit the nail on the head.  Not a bad article just a bad headline.

The headline is awful. It accomplished nothing but adding to the rumor mill. It's terrible to deliberately try to create doubt in Coach's ability to come back. A major newspaper publishing such things definately hurts the program. Where is the "doubt" proved in the article?

wasn't Rubin supposed to have agood relationship with Lavin? The negative headline sounds more like Lenn Robbins style.Any possible recruits could easily be turned off by the headline especially if they bypass reading the extent of the article

I think that chubby roger wrote the article, but the news have some other dopes to make up the headlines... whoever made it up is OBVIOUSLY some pukon grad who barely made it out of the mail room. :p

You would have to believe that this issue is addressed by Lavin and his staff while on recruiting trips. I am sure that potential recruits, parents and coaches inquire with Lavin on when he will be back on the bench. And if everything I have read is accurate, if he does not return any time this season he will be 100% ready by next season.

I have complete faith in Lavin and his staff to get this done. With the talent we have now and added players next year and with coach back on the bench good things will happen. Have to keep positive!!

Just to reaffirm the point...As a very widely followed practice,
at newspapers the reporters do not write the headlines.
Frequently, they are written by staff that are not familiar with the issue but
craft it based on their read of the article submitted.

Or sensationalize the headline to grab more readers
