Rowan Barrett Jr

Does Rowan Sr. have a good relationship with the school?

He would seem to be an ideal assistant coach. I don't know if he'd take it, but he's been involved with basketball for a long time and has done some nice things. Plus, his connections to incredible talent up north could lead to a pipeline. It'd be nice to have another Johnny on the staff and nice to have Rowan Jr. on the roster.

You know your getting old when..... you remember when the fathers of top recruits play college basketball.

Hell I remember his grandmother, Rona Barrett

You know you are getting old when you remember going to class in Quonset Huts in downtown Brooklyn But the good thing we are here to remember.
Remember you are only as old as you feel

All very good questions Marillac and truth be told I don't know how his relationship with SJU is. He does have a really good job in Toronto so I am not sure about an assistant coaches position. It could be viable.
I was hoping to see him and his son this past weekend in Ottawa , our nations capital , at the first weekend of the CYBL , but games were played in four different gyms across the city and given that my son plays a year younger our paths did not cross. The next set of games are in Toronto in 5 weeks and perhaps I will be able to see him then.
Will do my best to find out.
Having said that he may be a better asset remaining in Toronto given his position with Basketball Canada should he have a good relationship with the staff.

Get Chris to call him and extend an offer now to avoid the rush. B)

You know you are getting old when you were part of the first graduating class on the Hillcrest campus. And when the Johnnies were led by such stalwarts as Duckett, Parenti and Crystal.

Am in Toronto for a tournament this weekend with my younger son and was hoping to possibly see Rowan but he may be with Canada's National Development Team. :(

Love his passing skills. Kid is a baller. Hope somehow we land him.

@Cdn_Ballers: 2019 6'5" RJ Barrett recorded a team high 17 PTS (7/14 FG) & 8 REB in Canada's #FIBAu16Americas semi final win vs Dominican Republic

I am also hoping for a commit from Aubie, Jr.

Thanks, class of 2020.
Spoke to Tariq Sbiet earlier this afternoon. He is the editor and owner of Northpolehoops and he was in Montreal this weekend for the third annual Brookwood Elite Tournament. I asked him about Rowan Barrett Jr. Explained I was an SJU alumni.
Said Rowan loves Duke.
No surprise there but not what I wanted to hear. Coach and staff have a few years to increase our profile and standing with Rowan.

Rowan just had 22 points and 5 boards as Canada's under 16 team blew out Mexico 101-64 at the FIBA tournament in Argentina. Simi Shittu ( a Marillac favourite ) had 13 and 17 boards while Noah Kirkwood who plays for the same AAU program as my younger son had 15.
Hopefully all 3 players will be on our staffs radar in the future. Rowan and Simi will definitely be top 100 recruits.
