I'm very confused...so we can't post in the regular forum until we are "accepted" into the main one or something? It says I can't reply to posts in the main forum.
Rookie Forum Question

We get a lot of signups from spammers and trolls. So a guy signing up as "Mike" might also be a "Brandon" for example.
Spammers are often just robots not even actual people just computer programs that go out on the Internet and seek out forums and other types of opportunities to post fake, user-generated content for whatever purpose they have in mind. Most often these originate from places like Russia, China and India. But there are also the spammers that are actual people. Likely in some sweatshop in one of those places or maybe Nigeria, Bangladesh etc.... They fill up sites with ads and links for whatever they are selling and it is a chore to continually be deleting their spam and blocking their accounts from China, India etc.
Trolls are guys with an axe to grind or just participate to ruin things for everyone else because they are miserable human beings or maybe they are just mentally ill and have a manifesto they need to get out. Unfortunately, this isn't the place for it.
There are also these sort of hybrid spammer/troll characters. Let's say a guy signs up, let's call him Brandon. Then he replies to every post and every reply without any personal filter. He may not be a horrible person but just can't control himself and this ruins it for everyone else. Let's say the moderators ask him repeatedly to reel it in and then he starts personal fights in common threads that everyone has to sift through and they aren't the least bit interested. This is a problem. Brandon ignores the requests from the moderators and eventually gets banned. He then signs up again. Maybe 30 more times and he calls himself different things like Joe or Mike etc. Maybe he even gets another chance even though he isn't fooling anyone and he continues with the same behavior. Let's say he even says not once but multiple times using his different accounts that he'll never return. All with the same results.
So this is why we have a Rookie Forum. The people that make this site happen, are volunteers working on their own dime. Most of the people that participate or even just read, are hard working and busy people with their own daily issues and don't want to come here to deal with tedious people that don't care about wasting everyone else's time. The site is free and has been for over 20 years now. Some people just don't give a crap about anything or anyone other than themselves despite any amounts of generosity, so society and even redmen.com has rules and processes designed to make the best experience for well-intentioned people. It's just like in direct, face to face personal relations. It takes a minute to get to know people and welcome them into your group. The door is open but that doesn't mean we are best friends or family yet.

Paul, I've said many stupid things 4-5 years ago that I regret, but I'm not in my early or mid 20's anymore. I'd encourage you to meet me in real life if you think I'm a "troll". Have a beer with me and let's talk and then you can judge. A "troll" is a person who deliberately attempts to harass others or derail message boards. I don't have time or interest for "trolling". I'm a big fan of St. John's and I'm an alum. There are not too many of us 30 and under fans unfortunately, especially when it comes to diehards. At this point in my life, I'd rather focus my energy on extending olive branches, letting bygones be bygones, and trying to unite the fans as one big family. Just as with any family, there will be arguments, maybe even family members who refuse to talk to one another...but most of the time amends are made and people move on. I know I'm more than ready to. So if you don't want me posting, then that's fine and your call. I'm not interested in drama, I'm interested in winning the Advocare Tourney and supporting the guys. PM me if you want to get a beer sometime (regardless if you want to ban me or not). Anyway, let's take care of business today and get to 5-0!

Thanks, Paul you as well and the rest of the SJ fam. Kept flipping between our game and football, saw we were down 10 in 2nd and had trouble finishing. Switched back to football since others wanted to watch, checked phone and eyes got huge when I saw we won. Great effort, ugly wins are still wins. On to Mizzou!
