Noticed that a Robert Larranaga played for Coach Lapchick and The Redmen in 1960 and 1961. Does anyone know if that is Jim's brother ??

He does have a brother named Robert, so it's likely they're one and the same. As I've posted before, Larranaga came from my old neighborhood in the Bronx, and growing up, there were always references to "the Larrangas" (plural) as being local standouts.

redken, if you lived in St. Helena parish you are likely correct.
Jim has stated that his two brothers and a sister live in Florida. I think his sister also went to St. John's. His brother Bob lives on the Gulf.
From a recent article in the Tablet regarding coach Curran who was Jim's HS coach:
"From a young age, Larranaga developed a passion for basketball by watching his older brothers, Bob and Greg, play at St. Helena H.S., the Bronx, where the family resided. Jim went to St. Helena Elementary School right in the Bronx, but he received a call one day in the eighth grade from Curran, inviting him to try out for a basketball scholarship ....."
