Robbins should turn pro

Butterball....what an amateur. He's a glorified poster and an annoying one at that.

Shallow, poor worker and a hype artist. Typical pizazz vs. substance. Contrast him to Mike Vaccaro.

Let's hear what he has to say on SNY talking about the tourney. Maybe the guru can shed some light.

He'll pick Florida and Norm to win every game.

He's no internet blogger.
He wouldn't have tweeted what he did without a very reliable source.

He once cited me as a source by name in the Post without ever telling me we were on record...based off a conversation on instant messenger.

This is the same guy that tried to buy students on the university judicial committee dinner in exchange for details about a basketball player's case. He also promised another student help getting into NYU Law in exchange for info.

Really ? That stuff is true ? Was that before or after the Bigeastboards party ? Holy cr@p. That was almost as bad as Hoops Weiss falling for Lawman's joke Trangese quotes a few years ago.

At least he used your name. I don't think Hoops Weiss ever gave official credit to the esteemed " Lawmanfan"

Hah! Robbins doesn't know anything. It's so obvious Mo is thinking about it, it's really easy to act like he has a scoop. And if he's wrong, so what. What a joke.

That said, Moe isn't ready to turn pro. He dominated some games in the BE and frankly only showed flashes in others.
Even if he got 1st round money, which nobody would sneeze at, it doesn't mean he be around long enough for a second contract. He should stay 1 more year at least and let his game mature a little.

I think so long as Lav is able to get Obekpa and Jakarr to come, Moe will stay. He needs to spend more time at 3/4 than 5/4 as he did this year. That should be enough to entice him for one more year and to solidify his top 10 place next year.

Give me a break the guy is not Woodward and Bernstein but he does not make things up. In other words being wrong is not the same as making things up.

I hasten to remind you guys he wrote the back page Post story in March of 2010 right after they lost to Marquette at the BE Tourney that Norm was a goner. He had multiple quotes in it specifically from big boosters. Despite denials from SJU including Monasch, and skepticism from posters on this board and other local media not only did Robbins stick to the story he went on radio the next 24 hours and said his story is IRONCLAD. Furthermore he tweeted right after SJU lost to Memphis in the NIT that Norm and Monasch would meet shortly after to iron out the details of the buyout. And despite the fact that Monsasch denied a decision had been made we now know that Robbins was spot on. If you recall there was an article last year that indicated when Norm walked into the locker room after the Memphis loss he broke down crying, he indicated that he probably coached his last game. In other words he knew the end was there as well despite the SJU denials.

Forget about the fact that he was right, do you think he made up a back page story either way?

It is almost as if some of you guys write this stuff NOT because you think he is wrong but because you HOPE he is wrong and thus turn that hope into reality. I mean why can't he be right?

If Lenn told you tomorrow is Tuesday would you believe tomorrow is Wednesday?

My guess is Harkless is leaning towards declaring but not signing with an agent thus giving himself the opportunity to come back.

he has to decide no matter what a week or so after the final four whether he is staying or going. you can't test the waters anymore and not sign with an agent than decide to pull back. you're either in or out and that we will find out...just a side note, nate blue is the one calling out lenny and what he wrote. I trust what nate is saying than what lenny is saying...or you'll spin this in lenny's favor saying that nate blue and moe are just in denial or whatever. Just because Lenny may have broke some obvious news 2 years ago doesn't mean he is always right

Gotta agree with fordham here.
Someone who is reputable told Robbins and Blue is pissed that word got out prematurely.

Right it is obvious despite no one else reporting it and many others denying it. By the way I remember specifically when he ran that report 2 years that others were so convinced he was wrong because NO ONE ELSE WAS FOLLOWING UP ON HIS SCOOP.

And all the reports have been that he is thinking about it or weighing it. Other then Lenn no one has said unequivocally he is declaring.

Whether you believe him or not the point is he did not make it up. And if it is not news and SO OBVIOUS why in the helll are so many people calling him out for being a fraud?

You can't have it both ways. You cannot say he is a joke and a fraud and is wrong but then say he is probably right because that it is obvious that is what Harkless wants to do.

i guess time will tell.... i'm thinking with him in the top 15 range now, that he will most likely be leaving, however I'm still hoping his mama keeps him in school

The problem that I have with some of you is you confuse opinion with scoop/fact. Robbins is not giving advice to Harkless. In fact just the opposite, my guess is if Lenn was asked advice he would tell Moe to stay another year. But if a credible source tells him that Moe is leaning towards declaring then don't you think he is obligated to print it no matter if it is beneficial to SJU or not?

When Lenn writes a column in which he says that he likes Norm and thinks Norm has done a good job that is his opinion. You can disagree with it, no problem. When Lenn writes that after year 4 Norm is not getting fired and instead will be given a rolling extension he is not stating his opinion he is stating a FACT that was given to him by a source. People confuse the two. Some of you think that because Lenn has expressed admiration for Norm that his story about the extension must be bull**** as if they are the same thing. They are not. Thus your confusion.

Again I think some of you allow your emotion to cloud your posts. In other words Moe leaving early hurts SJU, thus Lenn writing that he will declare early is a column that indirectly hurts SJU thus he must be full of it, not because he is neccesarily wrong but because it hurts SJU.

My point is that in this case I would say it's 50/50 on Moe coming back. I don't think it is set in stone yet either way. With that being said, it doesn't hurt Lenn if he reports that Moe is going pro, and then doesn't...It's not like Moe said he was definitely coming back, and Lenn wrote this article contradicting what Moe said... I personally think that Moe leaving or staying benefits STJ either way. Shows that the staff can turn a recruit into a pro after 1 season, a recruit that wasn't in the Top 30 of his class at that... If he stays we have a great ball player playing for us another season. I'm not someone that stresses over the loss of Moe. I will stress out about it if/when he decides to go and IF Lavin doesn't have some top recruits coming in...even then I wouldn't call it stress...Rome wasn't built in a day, the program will be good for years to come, even if we have to have a couple of losing seasons...

With all due respect, Fordham 96, you don't know first hand some of the "sources" that this man has run with. I've been one of his "sources close to the program" before and he ran something I wasn't even 100% about. I also know several others who have been his sources, and I know students that have contributed to his stories and some of sources they got. This man didn't check any of that. I know for a fact during the coaching search that ended in Norm's hiring that something was run based off my opinion and masked with "a source close to the program." His standard of proof is lower than any writer I've come across--even the school paper.

He cares about being first and not being correct.

Fordham,

Solid posts end of the day Lenn's allegiance is to his employer the NY Post not St. John's.

Lenny also broke the Colleary story, he could have shelved it, and not reported the scandal, SJU could have spinned the story as Colleary retiring etc.

i think many of us are p-o'd that he points out the negativity surrounding the program considering norm and he were practically married.

that doesn't necessarily make him inaccurate. he throws in the "hedges" to protect himself. some on this board ARE closer to the program than others. if you're used as a source, so be it. that's the post.
