Roadmap to Selection Sunday

I've taken a look at our remaining season schedule and the schedules of the other BE schools for the season.

We're going to have to run the table from now until the end of December. Because our OOC schedule is so weak, it's going to hurt our RPI come Selection Sunday. We cannot afford to lose a game from now until the end of the year. Beating Murray State would've helped a ton, but what's done is done. If we beat South Carolina, December should be smooth sailing.

Nov- Holy Cross, Florida Gulf Coast, South Carolina
Dec- NJIT, @San Fran, Fordham, @St. Francis, UNC Asheville
Jan- @Villanova, @Cincy, Rutgers, Georgetown, Notre Dame, @DePaul, @Rutgers, Seton Hall, DePaul
Feb- @Georgetown, UConn, @Cuse, @Louisville, USF, Pitt
Mar- @Providence, @Notre Dame, Marquette

Must Win Games:
1. Cincinnati scheduled 12 home games in a row at home against cupcakes to start the season. They'll have a good record at the end of the season and if there is a game we could steal that would really help us beating a ranked team, it's our game@ Cincy in January. They won't be tested until we play them.

2. Beating UConn at MSG is the second must-win game that I see we need to have. They should still be ranked when we play them.

3. Pitt for the most part has a weak OOC so they should be ranked in the Top 25. So we need to win that February home game. This one will be tough as Steven Adams is a legit Center and they have size.

4. Having 2 wins against Notre Dame would look good on the resume. Steal the road game.

I've chalked up the Louisville and Cuse games as losses. The games that scare me are @Villanova and @DePaul. We lose those and it won't look good at all. They will be tough to beat on the road.

But if we can get to the 3rd day of the Big East tournament, sweat a little on Selection Sunday and we should be dancing.

The way I see it we should be 10 - 2 going in to Big East play. we need to go at least 10 - 8 in the Big East and then win at least one game in Big East Tournament and that will make us 21 - 11. That should get us in.

We need to be above .500 in conference for sure. But we also need to beat some ranked teams which is why I think that Cincy game in January is so important. The February stretch is brutal.

I don't think 21 wins gets us in automatically unless we can get 3-4 wins (including in the BE tourney) against the BE ranked teams. Our OOC will not be viewed as favorable mainly because of the Murray State loss which I feel we should've won. By March, the Baylor game will just be looked at on paper as a blowout.

I'm very disappointed that Crgreen's prediction of an undefeated season is up in smoke
